The new Guild UI and Permissions...yikes (Part 1)

The lack of response is infuriating

This is some of that improved communication they keep talking about.

I read your post in its entirety, and found it to be exactly as long as it needed to be to say what needed saying. Not a word was out of place. If I could give you 100 up votes, I would.

I hope when you come back to WoW, you're able to enjoy it as you always have--and that this issue with the permissions has been solved long before.
Thank you for this. I've been thinking about posting something for a few weeks but didn't see much of a point. I don't mind working/fighting for something, but Blizzard is a behemoth and I feel a bit like I'm opening an umbrella for protection in a tornado. It is easier for me to 'let go' now.

At this point I believe that the decisions are likely highly informed by the data they collect and there are simply not enough data points to influence the decision makers regarding the changes we are looking for. Resources will probably be allocated to things that have a more immediate and direct impact on the important data points. Maybe something that someone does here will touch a decision maker in a way that changes that - but this is not something I would bank on.

Becoming GM led me to seek info on the forums - which led me down this rabbit hole of becoming too invested in something I have no control over. For me, this means it's time to press the 'reset button'... Thanks again for your kind words :)
Calendar invites still broken too

Speculation, fear, uncertainty.

Dead are all the guilds, drained of all their will,
Blizzard messed the tools, the masters are the fools.
Dead are all the ranks, these controls are jank,
Osiris kicked the door, Blizzard we want more.

Dig through the switches
and take to the ditches,
to slam all the change to the
Guild Controls!

Dig through the switches
and take to the ditches,
to slam all the change to the
Guild Controls!

Dead are all our posts, to Fumel raise a toast,
sifting through our moans, drawing Blizzard groans.
Death is what they send, where is Ythisens,
give us what we need, dying as guilds bleed.

Dig through the switches
and take to the ditches,
to slam all the change to the
Guild Controls!

Dig through the switches
and take to the ditches,
to slam all the change to the
Guild Controls!

Fix it Blizzard, Fix it Blizzard
Fix it Blizzard, Fix it Blizzard
Before we all go and revolt.

Dead is all our hope, slipping down the slope,
Guilds prepare to die, as their guildies cry.
Dead are all our words, infection in our herds,
Blizzard gave the shot, watching as we rot.

Dig through the switches
and take to the ditches,
to slam all the change to the
Guild Controls!

Welcome to World of Warcraft, you pay for the full expasion now, and we'll fix the bugs latter down the line, if we feel like it. Oh and we'll fix the stuff that's not broke first.

I feel a bit like I'm opening an umbrella for protection in a tornado

I also read your post in it's entirety.

Thank you so much for posting your thoughts and feelings.

I sincerely hope and pray more people do.

As for holding up that umbrella in a tornado...

We are fighting for the things we want in the World of Warcraft. ie a "cartoon" world.

Therefore:

I for one have had my mini-umbrella propped securely over my head and my "YIKES!" sign held up since I stared posting on this thread.

(Perhaps if we offer Blizz some free birdseed and then paint a fake tunnel entrance on the side of a cliff..and....explosives. (From Acme!) Yes. lots of explosives...Hmmm)

Oh and:

I'm still here Blizz.

I still have not forgotten.

My guild's still on life support.

Do I sign the "Do Not Resuscitate" papers?
Hahah! XD

Hmm, let's see.....Ooh!

"Wynona's Big Brown Beaver" by Primus!
1,748 posts later and still no response but they wanted us to post what we want to see changed back, as stated by Ion. Every day that passes by, Blizzard's statements telling us to post what we want to see and never seeing or hearing about those things being discussed or changed or never getting addressed, proves not only my grudge forming against Blizzard but the other forum goers that have been here longer than me.

Can we please have our Guild Permissions restored back to how they were?
This will be my last post and bump in this thread. If a man is only as good as his word then we can safely judge what kind of men Ion and Co. are regarding their constant ramblings over the last handful of years of some pretend improved communication stuff.

Anyways, I can't add anything that hasn't been brought up within the last almost 90 pages of feedback but I would like to add that these changes are horrible and have changed the structure for my guild in a negative fashion - as stated before.

This whole expansion is nothing but changes for the sake of changes, bugs and exploits litter every feature of this expansion, and the game has taken a new direction that many of us clearly aren't happy with.

It's just bad.

I am tempted, but TBH I've never actually heard this song.

Rob Zombie just happens to be one of my favorite performers so Dragula was super easy. Also, in the interest of thread integrity, I'll probably hold off on another composition until the thread loses steam again.

In keeping with terms,
Suggestion: Allow guilds as an entity to collect re-roll tokens that do not have gold on their table and check current raid/party composition for appropriate drops.

How we'd use it: When we get a drop that goes only to the one person whose already geared, why not give us a chance to reroll for somebody else to get gear?

EDIT: This isn't me saying no, it's more of a "hold on lemme listen to that song first". lol
Okay. No generalizing, no aggrandizing, just straight up what I'd like to see:

Guild rank permissions need to be restored to their pre-BfA state, so that we may have customized ranks of officers to facilitate the creation of the desired structure of our guild as it appeared before the BfA patch. Current functionality risks entrusting too much power to people we have never met face to face with.

Thank you for your time.

This. Again and again, this. There's the feedback on this subject. Some of the other improvements people have suggested would be nice, but if they won't even do this, we may as well go find some windmills to tilt at.
Still on my read-through. This interesting idea about integrating guilds and communities is from page 32:
07/27/2018 04:09 AMPosted by Hathlo
I think each guild should be able to create a single 'guild-linked' community. From the guild end of things, players in that community would show in the guild roster and show a separate 'community' rank. That rank would have access to guild chat with the option of being muted like any other rank, optional access view the guild calendar events, and likely no bank access (that should be a privilege for full membership.) Obviously, this would be an optional feature that Guild Leads can use, and inviting people to the guild-linked community would be an additional permissions node for ranks, so that guild leaders can choose what ranks, be it everyone, or officers, or anywhere in between, have the ability to invite to the guild-linked community.

The separate ranks for communities, Member, Mod, Lead can and should still be utilized within the community. The Guild Master of the guild the community is linked to would have 'ownership' rights in the community.

What this would achieve is a way for players to have 'try-before-you-buy' membership experience to a guild. Currently, if I want to invite somebody from another guild who might be looking for a change of pace, they'd need to spend time on an alt in our guild. The logistics of doing that aren't always friendly. For example, a player on the other faction or on another realm would likely need to roll an entire new character to experience even chat with the guild, or they'd need to buy a character service and leave their current server behind, if they're the type of player who really only plays one character. The other benefit to this is that it can effectively act as a second guild membership. This builds everyone's ability to form community, in and out of guild, and basically allows guilds to have honorary members who either don't have the means or for other reasons cannot leave their current group or realm without social penalties.

Personally, all I want is for the permissions to be separated out and assignable to whichever ranks a Guild Leader chooses. But we were asked for other ideas as well, and this one certainly fits that bill. Frankly I'm surprised Blizz didn't think of this to begin with, since they seem to want to merge guilds and communities anyway.
Guess all this silence from blizz just confirms they’ve put this on the “ignore till it goes away” pile.

Please restore the guild rank controls to their previous (Pre-Patch) state.

Thank you.

Holey Skimboley! I didn't even get here until page 34! Look at me back then! So cute and underleveled at the time! Get on outta here with your not-120 self!

I would however, like to thank Jeraff and Xakopane for their acknowledgement of the issues, and not just some "no generalizing and aggrandizing here guys! We need specifics!"

/salute to you both.

Anybody seen Greenstone?
Bump!

I'm a part of WoW QA, we usually check the bug forums. Things listed in General are checked by community. Many of these may currently be researched but large threads are how to manage. If you have a specific topic you're passionate about I suggest breaking them up into separate threads.

I will forward this on to them for visibility.

I knew something must be wrong. I'm relieved to hear you're feeling better.

Guild leaders have created a thread of almost 100 pages with no responses and in my 14 years in the game, I have never seen anything like this. I just thought something *must* be wrong somewhere...I'm sorry to hear it was your health however. The team did extend our thread several times but I'll admit the level of disappointment and rancor increased after July turned into October...if you have the time and resources can you please take a look at this thread?

We really are looking out for the best interests of the game and our guilds. We feel hamstrung by the the newly implemented controls and have some very detailed feedback on how to improve the guild interface. Thanks, and again, I am glad to hear your health is improving. As you can see, you were missed by your community!

Excellent news. Given how long it's taken Fumel to piece together the best parts, I'd assume they have their work cut out for them too.
I have created a NEW thread on the BUG REPORT forums. PLEASE, let's work together and migrate our posts there. Feel free to do like I have, copy/paste etc.

We have been told our issue will be addressed, however we were also told we created this thread in the WRONG forum. We've been given a tip by Itzali, let's heed his advice! :)

With all due respect:

After 90 pages we're supposed to pack up house and move?

Even though they have failed to grace us with any direct response here. Blizz has stated a few times that they are aware of this post.

It seems counterproductive at this point (90 pages and months into it) to now pack up and move to a different thread.

This thread's cap has been extended repeatedly and there is a LOT of information, emotions, ideas and suggestions here from many posters who at this point have either given up posting and / or are holding their breath waiting for the solution to come. (How many people who posted right after BfA launched would be aware of (or even believe) that this particular thread is still active?)

Either way, for many reasons a lot of people wont ever be made aware of a new post and will not therefore be able to make a move to any new thread(s) to repost / copy paste etc...what they have already posted many many many times already HERE over the last several months.

All the input that Blizzard asked for is HERE.

Suggestion: With all due respect. Blizzard, Please Read it!
