Which has been the intent of the developers all along. They knew that this was coming. They knew that they only had to wait it out.
What if we...make a new thread now, and fill it with quotes from this thread?
Theoretically I suppose it is possible but only if the powers that be bless it by opening the comment cap up. 500 post cap limit so attempting to recreate it would end at page 26. Even if they do bless it it still has to be copied over painstakingly by hand one post every minute. Thats 2100 minutes. Your looking at 1 Day 10 hours 35 minutes of continuous posting. Given shifts of 8 hours you would need three and a half days to get all the comments over and that negates any sort of order as other posters would still be free to interject in the middle which might have the side effect of breaking up flow of thoughts.

^^ I second that ^^
Well, I was all set to do it. Had this thread open so I could quote the original post. Was going to post a link here so folks could go ahead and migrate over. Figured I'd go through my post history and at least quote the quotes I've been doing. There's maybe 100 of them. And...
I just couldn't do it. It feels totally hopeless. Maybe... maybe if someone else makes a thread, I'll try to put some quotes in it. But... right now... I feel beaten.
We
shouldn't have to do this. Blizzard should
already be working on the issue. A fix should be
on schedule to launch with the next patch. And if that's not the case, it doesn't seem like anything we say or do will make any difference any more.
The doomsayers are right. The WoW killer has arrived, and it turns out it was Blizzard all along.

Start it now though and it could end up "moderated" as being duplicative.

I made a new thread to post on.
Perhaps if we stick to quoting highlights from here and migrating them there, and maybe (maybe) take screen shots (or something) of the mega thread and post them somewhere. Personally, i would not know where to post something like that. just throwing out an idea.
Fumel.
Please don't give up.You've been the consistent voice of optimism for so long here.
You've done an amazing job!
We aren't done in yet.
Fight.

Not sure how long it would take to copy/paste the entire thread into Word, or if it's worth it? To save it for posterity and/or citation usage later. Another idea is to capture, page by page of the thread with the "Save Page Now" option from the Wayback Machine Internet Archive:
https://archive.org/web/
I captured Page One as a test. It worked.

Just a thought. :)

Isn't there a internet webpage archive somewhere?
lol Blizzard doesn't care about this.....or any of our concerns.
How long has this post been around? Any reply?
Now, they're going to dump the forums to another area where they won't read any of them.
Blizzard used to be a great company. Now, they're just like EA.
New thread, same posts. If we just have to keep quoting each other saying "revert the permissions" until it's locked, we can. If it gets capped and they -still- haven't responded, and 8.1 doesn't fix it, then I imagine a lot of people really giving up, and leaving.

Hmm...Forums were just reset in 2016. I remember because I had a large recruitment thread going. The new forum was created for our realm, I posted and life has gone on. I do not recall them warning us however...this time at least I have the actual recruitment post I made saved on a document.
We've been told that this issue is not being ignored. The sky is not falling; the forums are being reset across the board...not just for us.
Keep the faith and again, let's try and tidy up our needs from wants so when the time does come, Devs can sort things out in a way that satisfies the majority of guild leaders. Getting the muted chat guild rank back in about a month happened because the majority of us were on the same page. When the new page comes up, hopefully we will be focused on what people need in a brief and efficient manner.
One last gasp before the new forum rolls out.
Please revert the permissions controls!

I'm not sure if there is hope for it, I could be wrong..
My suspicions, coupled with other evidence is they are doing many passes over the game to remove as much stored data / network traffic as possible to increase money savings.
Things like guild permissions, view cape / helm options being tied into transmog data.. The complete removal of first aid and many other user settings that have network load and are stored on their servers are being cut out / combined with other existing data.
could be wrong but it's just the only justification that I can see.

Please revert the permissions controls!
Blizzard:
Regarding guild permissions:
Please revert, restore, repair, return, fix, mend, refurbish, recondition, rehabilitate, rebuild, reconstruct, remodel, overhaul, redevelop, renovate reestablish, revive, recover, what you have removed, broken, borked, messed up, eliminated, botched, butchered, damaged and totally in other words, bungled.
Thank you.

Though I've been transferring posts from here to the new thread:
https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20769739348?page=1 (that was made to continue our discussion after the new forums launch), I suddenly realized we have to keep this one alive as long as possible, too.
We have no idea when the new forums will launch. In the meantime, if this one doesn't continue to get posts, the mods will close it. If I was into conspiracy theories, I might wonder if they're deliberately holding the update until threads like our new guild permissions thread become too old to transfer over. Then they'll launch the update without an announcement so we don't have time to carry anything over.
If that
were the case though, I'm confident we could just start from scratch. It's not like guild leaders have decided they're happy with the way things are now.
Please, Blizzard, separate out the all-in-one guild permissions that are lumped under "is officer". Please also consider implementing at least some of the many terrific ideas to improve guilds that have been mentioned in this thread. A more functional recruitment tab (including ability to invite offline players), more ways to search through and sort guild members, guild halls with vendors and other perks, and more things for small guilds to achieve are just a few of the ideas presented.
Guilds are the backbone of WoW. Help them help you.

Please revert the guild permissions. We'd like to start diversifying guild duties/roles. Right now we don't have that.

Umm..it's been 2 days now and the forums have not been reset. Also the link that was posted here is down, I guess since BlizzCon is over.
Wonder what happened?
