The new brutosaur mount is a failure

No…not because of its price (and the intrinsic perception it engenders of being a shameless cash-grab). It fails because it offers so little originality.

It’s a re-color, first of all. Sure, there’s some additional detailing in the form of golden armor…but it really is just another example of Blizz’s tendency to put in minimal development effort, call it ‘new and shiny’, and slap a hefty price tag on it.

But that’s not all. Of all the features they could have added to it, they chose…

…a mailbox.

Really? Of all the useful functions it could have sported, they selected the most commonly proliferated interface available in the game; one that can literally be found in every single town and outpost, in every single zone. If anything about this mount deserves derision, it’s this…and it’s the reason I won’t be getting it myself.

That said, here’s the mount I would pay ninety bucks for:

The New-U 9000.
A goblin/gnome collaboratively engineered portable salon that basically resembles a vintage hair-dryer chair* on wheels. On either side are seated two hairdressers (both with ridiculous hairdos and glittering horn-rimmed glasses) that serve as a barbershop vendor, and a transmog vendor, respectively.

It could have some amusing animations, both when idle and when put to use. For example, I picture that, when the ‘apply’ button is clicked for either function, the dryer hood unceremoniously slams down on the seated character…and after a brief sequence of flashing lights and obscuring puffs of steam (and perhaps the whirring sound of sawing and drilling), our character’s new appearance is revealed. Y’know…like a scene out of Loony-Tunes.

Anyhow…I look forward to seeing what other ideas my fellow forum-goers can come up with. And because they are equally entertaining, all the inevitable incoming invectives.

*look it up…it really is a thing

ADDENDUM:
Thanks all for the replies so far. For the most part they’ve been civil, and even edifying…to the point that I’ve even changed my mind. Meaning, you’ve convinced me that the mailbox function is a logical pairing with the auction house, so I no longer think it was a failure in concept. Thanks!

While it would still have been an outrage, I wish the store bruto would have had some other model differences, like maybe having a shorter neck/tail or just being another mount model altogether, with the two venders.

Also, and this is just my take, the store AH mount should have just had the one vendor, the AH vender, so that if you wanted to do mail/junk vendering, you would have had to use another mount/NPC.

90% of the reason I want it is for the mailbox. :person_shrugging:

I’m outraged that chest on the back doesnt give you personal bank access!

Kidding of course, I like that other people have it and I dont need it. Theyre all over the place now and I dont even have to request someone to throw it up. If noone is around I still have my garrison AH bot and most of my alts are engineers.

nods

Making it a tri-function mount probably would have gone a long way toward quieting the protests.

You mean the one other thing that is necessary for an AH mount to be great? The thing every AH mount ended up parked next to because it was mandatory?|

Gee, I WONDER WHY THEY CHOSE A MAILBOX.

The new brutosaur mount is a failure

If you listen real hard, you can hear the sound of Blizzard C-Suite executives laughing as they light their cigars with flaming $100 bills.

Given that it caused the AH to run out of WoW tokens, is it really a failure?

The mount exists for one reason only: to make money for the investors.

If it makes a lot of money, it’s a success.

How else do you get the items you bought on the AH in the middle of nowhere?

You’ve got to literally be the only person in the world who thinks matching an AH mount with a mailbox is useless.

If it was a failure, no one would be buying it. So far your the only one making that complaint, most people complain that people ARE buying it.

Can’t hear you from up there

I can guarantee the amount of people who use the barber shop often enough that they would spend $90 on it is in single digits per server. Most people buying ti would be mount collectors for the sweet +1.;

Getting people to pay $90 for a mount you copy/pasted is honestly hilarious to me.
Blizz really showed how much they can get from people for zero effort.

People sit in town 99% of the time anyway now.

PERFECT combination there.
What do you do when you buy something? run to the nearest mailbox. Couldnt be any better if its only got two NPCs.
park it by ANY vendor and you got it all…

I like your barber/transmog idea, hope they implement it.

P.S. Nerd status symbols don’t require useful features.
That’s why the place you will see the Dinos the most is----
in town by the mailboxes and AHs.

You’re not alone, OP. I bet Katy Stampwhistle also thinks the new brutosaur an abject failure.

would have been cool if the new Bear had been transmog/ barber instead of the vendor who sells nothing
