The first Epoch was ruled by The Dark Sun, “The Ancient One” Mueh’zala and Death’s Love, Shadra. I think this might be explored more in the Nerubian side of TWW.
In the First epoch, all of creation would fall into an Abyss at the bottom of creation. Shadra, to try and stop creation from falling into the Abyss weaved the world into existance. “Like a spider who consumes her web only to make it anew.” Shadra weaves the Threads of Fate, aka the Timeways, as a way to stop The End Time. (Aka, when the 7 heavens collapse and creation falls into the Abyss) The Nerubians may refer to her as “The Great Goddess of Destiny” seeing the supposed pools of Void in Kaz’Algar as a microcosm of the greater Abyss.
This may have been the lost knowledge of The Black Empire.
