As the title implies, the name “Demon Hunter” is awkward and unimaginative. I suggest it be changed. Thoughts?

It is how we came about. Plus there’s that whole “consumed the soul of a demon” thing, or whatever. We’re heroes (or anti-heroes.) The demon threat might be diminished for now, but it’ll be back - Blizzard loves cycling their stories. Legion was the follow up to BC. SL is the follow up to LK. BfA was the follow up to vanilla and cata. The Legion, or some incarnation thereof, will return.

Sienge already said it…illidari are Illidan faction of demon hunters. In all honesty though, I dont think it would matter. My name with the illidari title plus changing the name of the class would be great lol

I’ve witnessed some DHs on the RP servers have “former Illidari” on their RP profiles. Honestly makes me gag. It would be like a DK being former Ebon Blade.
Both those factions pretty much require their respective members to remain part of the faction to prevent people from going rogue. Similar to how the Kirin Tor keeps tabs on magic, or the Bronze Flight keeping tabs on time shenanigans. A rogue DK or DH is very dangerous and would have a warrant/bounty out on their heads if they go rogue.

To be fair, the entire argument for why only elves (and specifically just NEs and BEs, not even VEs or Nightborne) can be DHs is “because Illidan only trained elves”. That does suggest that the entire class is straight equivalent to the Illidari. And the class hall storyline in Legion reinforced that, there isn’t a player DH in-game that wasn’t hand-trained by Illidan.
I’m not saying I really support the notion of calling us “Illidari”, but the argument that the Illidari are just a faction of DHs is faulty. We’re the faction of DHs, there aren’t other ones.

On that note, I don’t think we should ever have a “Tinker” class added. How about Machinist or…or even Engineer lol
