The Murlocalypse

A massive undersea volcano erupts causing catastrophic disaster on the sea floor, causing all kinds of murloc to flee their watery homelands and seek shelter on the shores around the world. To the land dwellers it looks like a large scale, coordinated invasion of murlocs have come attacking all continents at once!

The Horde and Alliance meet this assault with the utmost aggression in attempts to push back this worldwide invading army! The murlocs however are trying to escape the danger within the deeps by seeking safety on land until the disaster has abated. Not looking for a fight, the already frightened murlocs are besieged by land dwellers and slaughtered by the masses, leaving them no choice but to fight back or risk going back to sea against certain death.

Among the escaping murloc tribes are the Ankoan and Jinyu, while related to those we encountered in Nazjatar and Pandaria, they are separate tribes that live in the deep ocean on opposite ends near the volcanic eruption. Before too much bloodshed occurs, we meet up with these tribes and they explain all that is happening, it is not a worldwide invasion seeking to conquer them, but hundreds of thousands seeking refuge on land from a treacherous disaster.

Once everything is sorted out and the extermination of murlocs has been stopped, mostly; the Ankoan and Jinyu explain their situation unable to go back home while the volcanic activity continues and long after it ends before the ocean floor will be safe again. They too seek refuge on land and we the kind, caring (minus the slaughtering that just happened) take them into our fold and give them a place within the Horde and Alliance.

New Allied Race: Murlocs (sort of)
While the Ankoan and Jinyu are separate species with their own unique culture, they are closely related. Males and Females are almost indistinguishable from each other, that only through close examination would one find their differences. With that said, they are treated as one race with Body Type 1 being Ankoan and Body Type 2 being Jinyu. You can play as whichever race you want, on whichever faction you want and their interactions with in game story is unfamiliar as they are different tribes from the ones we already encountered.

Racials:

  1. Hybrid Gills - Allows them to breathe both on land and in water equally effectively, can remain underwater indefinitely without needing to come up for air.
  2. Webbed Appendages - Increases swim speed by 40%.
  3. Ebb and Flows - When you critical strike, increases your haste by 3% for 6 seconds.
  4. [Active] Create Globules of Water - Though they are comfortable moving on land, they cannot be without water for long periods and are able to create Globules of Water from the moisture in the surround area. Consuming these restores 15% mana or 25% maximum Rage/Focus/Energy over 10 seconds, 3 Charges, 5 minute cooldown, useable in combat. Unique consumable, Soulbound.

Available Classes:
Warrior, Paladin, Hunter, Shaman, Rogue, Monk, Priest, Mage, Warlock

How are they Paladins? There are sunken temples that were once on land that have fallen into the ocean from time to time, they are able to study and learn from them. Many began adopting the teachings and through the depths of the ocean, the light above finds its way to sea below.

Their slaughter must continue.

Yes playable murlocs please!

Only can mog helm, back and weapons.

On a slightly unrelated note, I’d love to see more instances of notable lore events being portrayed by Murlocs, like that one quest in Wrath. I want to see more of the Murloc timeline.

I agree but only if Murloc players only chat in nerglish and can never learn any other languages.

please murlc race!

There is a toy ingame that changes you to a Murloc.

So all the animations and work is already there . Blizzard just needs to flip a switch on making it a race a player can play
