So I was attempting to pen a new Dloin short story today, but couldn't find the words. And then I decided to read some other short stories that have been posted and I thought "Man, wouldn't it be great if someone collected all (or most) of the player-written short stories from Moon Guard's playerbase into one, easy-to-access thread?"
And since it's a slow day at work today, I decided to start doing just that.
A NOTE ABOUT AUTHORSHIP:I am simply searching the forums and taking the results from those searches and linking them in here. As such, if the story was originally written by a character who has since switch to another character, the authorship will be credited to the newer character (as it will be the one displayed via my search). If you are the original author and you wish the story to be linked to the original character, please let me know.
A NOTE ABOUT ORGANIZATION:My initial plan is to organize the stories in the following manner:
Repeating authors, sorted alphabetically by Author. Stories sorted alphabetically within the same author.
Single-story authors, sorted alphabetically by Story Title
Untitled Stories sorted at the end.
If anyone has any concerns with this sorting, or has a different idea that wouldn't involve
too much extra work on my end, I'd be happy to hear it and make adjustments.
A NOTE ABOUT RECOMMENDATIONS:I obviously haven't gotten to all of them. And simply searching the forums by the keyword 'Story' brings up - quite literally - 1000 pages (I've made it to about page 70 sorted by relevance). As such, if you've written short stories of your own and they are not featured here, PLEASE LET ME KNOW! Simply post with the story's title, and the link, as well as the name of the author character (if that is not yourself).

Made it to about page 70 on the forums story search, and the last 15 pages of posts all seem to be the threads that 'include' the word story, rather than are titled with it.
I'm going to tone down the searching for now, but I know I've missed a lot. If any of you know of stories that exist on these fine forums that have not made it up to this collection yet, PLEASE let me know and I'll get them added.

I see you've already posted your story, which is awesome! I'll get it linked here shortly. However, I will still answer your questions, as there may be others who would also like those questions answered.
Sharing your creative work is always a struggle, whether you've written one short story or a number of novels. What works for me is to slowly open it up to others. If you're writing a short story about your WoW character, maybe write the story, revise it once, and then share it with one person who is both familiar with the setting and you trust. A guild member or friend who plays WoW, perhaps? From there, after hearing their input, make some adjustments and then open it up to a wider audience - your guild as a whole, or people who are not as familiar with WoW.
As far as the quality of the forums for sharing stories and receiving feedback, well, it ebbs and flows. It seems that a lot of the big writers have left the server or at least become inactive on the forums between late Cataclysm and mid Legion. General feedback on stories is much lighter than it used to be, but it is still there. And in spite of having fewer responses on each story post, the forum community at large still remains one of the most supportive communities for sharing your creative work.
