I dunno man I feel like there’s a lot of outliers to OP’s formula. I twink because after Legion, I lost my taste for the max lvl experience. It’s a boring Korean grindfest aimed at maximizing the time you play, probably to financially target people who pay by the hour to play, across the Pacific.
Well, max lvl isn’t what I remember it being from years ago. Unfortunately for me, a part of me still enjoys the gameplay (pruned massively as it is, and certainly not as enjoyable as it used to be). Worse, a small part of me hangs on to what wow used to be for me. And that, was simply logging in for an hour or two to pvp and have fun with friends.
For whatever reason, probably a lot of reasons, the only way I feel I can get that now is with ultra casual twinkling. I think a lot of twink are like that. Depressed people holding on to a dying or likely dead feeling of what was. Just casually logging in to kill stuff and then log out. No lfg. No rejections. Most twinks will happily group with non twinks if only to protect them with their twinkage and spread the good feels, amongst their own side anyway. And the best part, is no grind.
Unless you spend a lot of time twinking out the perfect toon, but from my perspective that’s just as much or more work than max lvl play…which, for me, defeats whole purpose.
This right here is why I think we’re seeing a rise in twinks. I know that is why me and my buddies are doing it this expansion for the first time. End game is a dumpster fire of unrewarding infinite-treadmill systems that have gotten boring faster than any other expansion.
Perhaps it’s the hope that one day something will click inside you and every other levelers head that gearing properly is the way to go. I guess one could ask, why do you feel the need to show up in a player vs. player environment not having decent gear that will almost certainly end in your demise? Doesn’t that get boring?
I guess I could level to max and get on the endless gear grind that you have so blindly accepted but I tend to value my time a little more than chasing constant upgrades. This character was complete 3 days after BfA launched and while not BiS by any means can perform as needed.
I’ve been twinking since before WoW even came out, why would I even want to quit given that this has been my “thing” for almost 20 years?
The hilarious thing is you’re wearing boe’s and questing/dungeon gear which is available to everyone. 3k HP is maybe 300 more than the average leveler.
This belief that you should be allowed to queue in outdated gear when gear matters is stupid. If you queue is lvl 20 gear at lvl 35, you’re going to die non stop to other levelers.
Well for one you’re not one or two shotting everyone all the time as a twink, that’s a common fallicy among those who haven’t tried twinking out. Secondly steamrolling levelers is only part of the fun of twinking, fighting other groups of twinks is just as if not more fun, and the process of gearing a twink is much more stasifying than the sh!tshow that is end game gearing currently.
And even if that wasn’t all true, yes, two shotting players is still more fun than two shotting the same world quest mobs for the hundredth time to get 1/1000 of a neck level.
I don’t’ think twinks should be in normal brackets, but the idea that twinks just kill undergeared noobs is wrong.
There’s not that many new players joining WoW and leveling from scratch. So twinks are mainly killing players in heirloom gear, a lot of the time enchanted up. They’re not ‘twinked out’ for the bracket, but they’re in more capable gear than the average noob.
Whatever, and no I am not. I’ve twinked at 29 years ago, I know the game. You will be moved into your own xp off bracket. If you want to do that all the power to you.
Apparently you don’t. You must have not seen the comment that my gear provides me with ~300 to 600 hitpoints more than a fully geared leveler. And this is 2018, twinking is a lot different now. Everyone can maximize their potential but I am guessing they are like you, clueless on that aspect.
And if you did twink back then, you would know that a vocal minority asked for the separate bracket, it wasn’t imposed on us as a “punishment”.
