Plebs. I have a friend who is always bragging on facebook about his bench but uses a smith. It's like 50% of your potential actual bench. The only time I use a smith at all is at hotels or on cruise ships(don't want to lose balance and die with the ship moving).
ive only ever used it for legs when im bein lazy.11/07/2018 03:41 PMPosted by Fadingtwo11/07/2018 03:38 PMPosted by Theoldgodswho does bench on a smith??

I have to bench on a smith because the only gym even remotely close to me is planet fitness and they don't have barbell benches, scuffed gym

I was considering PF, but I'd set off lunk alarm. Do you not have a golds near you? It's more expensive, considerably, but much much better.

I think he deleted it LOL. It was just some kid in my city benching 135 on a smith machine. I saw him comment on a video "I'd beat that dude's !@#", then had a good laugh when I watched his profile video.
Edit: I think his fb was banned. His name wasn't even English. It was a bunch of symbols. Someone probably reported him for threats or some !@#$.

a friend at gym benches only smith because he goes very heavy and does not want to ask people to spot that kind of weight
also smith completely isolates certain muscles groups its incredible for multiple exercises
tldr; have a least a tiny clue what you are talking about before you try to sound edgy about gym things

smith bench is garbage there I said it.
99% of bench pros would agree.
maybe use it if youre injured or weak/scared/etc.
nobody ever got a massive bench by doing smith bench, theres literally no stabilization required.
i have a huge clue as to what im talking about but you and "your friend" who relies on smith to bench both sound like females. how awesome are you new lifting gloves too? do you chalk up and grab the belt for your 200 pound squat? ive been in the military 13 years and have seens thousands of people work out at any given time and none of them ever used smith for bench.11/07/2018 05:39 PMPosted by Trafficz11/07/2018 03:38 PMPosted by Theoldgodswho does bench on a smith??

facts
the only people who use smith machine are people who are injured or people who are new to lifting.
its not rocket science. a free moving bar requires stabilization, aka more muscles used. smith machine takes that out, you can literally do a one hand smith machine benchpress with your had 20 inches away from center. lol
yeah if someone has a torn rotator cuff (happened to me) then by all means. but if you are just using it as your norm then you are only doing it so you can say you bench 350 when you honestly can barely 3 rep 275.11/07/2018 06:38 PMPosted by Bakkdar11/07/2018 06:36 PMPosted by Theoldgods... i have a huge clue as to what im talking about but you and "your friend" who relies on smith to bench both sound like females. how awesome are you new lifting gloves too? do you chalk up and grab the belt for your 200 pound squat? ive been in the military 13 years and have seens thousands of people work out at any given time and none of them ever used smith for bench.

and to put it in context im a 325 x10 3set guy. im not some freak beast but people just dont use smith for bench unless reasons above or they wanna bs about what they can push.

If you bench on a smith are you benching or is the smith doing the benching?
I notice people who play wow bench more then 100 pounds the national average. This is according to trade chat statistics.
Bench pressing on a smith machine is terrible on shoulders. The restricted barbell movement doesn't follow the natural motion of the lift.
Better off just using dumbells.
