It takes longer than 6 seconds (the CD of Prowl) to drop combat anyway in order to be able to stealth. I cannot fathom what action you could be taking to drop stealth that wouldn’t put you into combat where the difference between a 2 and 6 second stealth cooldown would even matter.
Did you read what I wrote? I said SPREAD dots… I don’t mind regular AoE uncovering me. But a dot that is targetted at my teammate should not spread to me while stealthed.
Got it?
It’s one of the reasons nobody plays feral outside arena.
Log your feral into any form of pvp content where you bump into groups with a class that can spread a DoT.
Anyway, I’m done arguing in this thread. Most responders are obviously not playing feral as a main in these situations which are very common.
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s…CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!!
Feral in BGs are supposed to play like Rogues. Being grouped up and stealthed inst the way to go.
So much for “I quit feral and conversation over”
It’s been said a couple times by multiple people now but I think I’ll re-iterate:
It sounds an awful lot like you seem to think feral should be able to sprint into a mass-melee in battlegrounds and have complete freedom to do a max DPS rotation, while breaking all CCs sent your way, facetanking all the damage sent your way, and losing no uptime whatsoever.
This is not only completely unrealistic, it’s not feral’s - or rogue’s - role. If you want to play feral in BGs so badly, play to it’s strengths. Small skirmishes, ambush attacks, back-capping, etc. Sprinting to blacksmith at the start of Arathi Basin and saying you got stomped because the spec is bad is ludicrous.
No…
I want to be able to actually take part in a group fight without constantly being unstealthed by enemy attacks that are part of a standard rotation before I get off my own attacks. The talent that lets you use shred or rake as if you were stealthed is not enough because you have to build 5 combo points for it to be effective. And it’s only a 30% chance of kicking in with 5 combo points… Just give us subterfuge for godsakes.
I’d also like to do “some” damage in group fights while in cat form without being immediately stunned and dead before I can get through a simple bleed rotation.
Again, this is not in reference to arena. In arena survival instincts is used to help get that quick kill and win the match. In any other form of content including blitz brawl, that 6 seconds is generally meaningless in whether or not you will win a match.
Or here’s an idea… let me cast cyclone, rejuvenation, and swiftmend in cat form as feral to save on the global cooldown shifting back and forth between caster and cat form? I’m not saying cyclone should be an insta cast.
Anyway, some of this might be addressed in TWW using the windstalker tree. You’ll be able to heal yourself a bit more and the damage from your bleeds will be higher. But other than that, you will still have problems staying in stealth thanks to all those spread dots.
I suppose I’m not understanding why you’re waiting so long to unstealth to participate in a group fight. Feral isn’t going to be stealthing in and out of combat on a whim. You have plenty of gap closing tools and things like roots and slows to prevent your enemy from running away. So while you’re stealthed, don’t approach from a direction that’ll get you hit by a stray DoT. Despite what you’re implying, you need to be pretty close to the attacker’s main target in order to get splashed like that and there’s really just no reason for you to be.
Once you’ve made the decision to engage and are actively fighting, what does it matter if you’re brought out of stealth or not? Sure if you can manage it you would always prefer to leave stealth on your own terms. But it’s not the end of the world if you’re unstealthed a split second before your first Shred hits. Once the fight has started, all discussion of stealth is over. Unless you want to do some Vanish shenanigans with Incarn or something. I get that you’re worried about Feral survivability but so is everyone else. Druid DPS are unacceptably squishy right now across the board. So I guess it’s a good thing that our survivability is increasing dramatically in TWW huh?
Stuns are deadly to everyone, not just Feral. I’d even say that Druids are better than most at surviving being stunned with their pants down since unlike most defensives, you can still Barkskin and Well-Honed Instincts will trigger regardless. Barkskin is going to have a number of talents that increase its effectiveness in TWW to say nothing of the other DR talents available in Druid of the Claw.
If you’re finding stun windows to be that deadly to you, I’d suggest it’s player error. You’re probably using your medallion incorrectly or not baiting out CC appropriately. You’re not going to fare significantly better on a different class.
So what you’re saying is there should be a talent that allows you to say, use Shred or Rake in Humanoid form to instantly go back to Cat with no GCD loss after using one of your utility spells? That’s a pretty neat idea. I have a perfect name for such a talent! Fluid Form.
