Nothing cooler then actually riding on an airplane around Azeroth. Missed opportunity to give engineers a recipe to make it in Mechagon.

When you complete the Gnome heritage armor quest line you also get a special flight whistle that calls the plane.
We should get that plane as a flying mount
There’s been three of them ingame since Vanilla, two that look the same aside from number of seats, and an earlier flying machine that ends up getting used again in Cata I think
The plane model looks so much cooler than that rickety helicopter mount.
As a plane nerd, I’d love this.

This should be a new Gnomish engineering mount. We haven’t had a new pair of these since MoP. For the Goblin one, slap a Goblin head on [enter vehicle here] and there you go.
why don’t we have racial flying mounts? Similar to the racial ground mounts we already have.
the gnome one could be the airplane.

actually, now that I said it, I’m seeing slight flaws in the idea, what lorewise would actually be able to carry a tauren through the air that would also make sense as their racial mount.

My only problem is i dont see how that exact plan could have hovering capabilities.
Tauren - Eagles
Undead - Bats
Trolls - Different bats?
Orcs- Wyvern
Blood Elves - Dragonhawk
Goblin - An actual missile
Human - Gryphon
Night Elf - Hippogryph
Draenei - Moth (a stretch, but the only other thing I can think of is those Argus rays)
Dwarf - Gryphon but Wildhammerier
Gnome - Fighter Jet
Worgen - stumped on this one. Bats, maybe?
Note that these aren’t necessarily optimal (some/many would just be recolors) but they are what I feel would be the most iconic flying mounts for each race.

We have rocket mounts that can stay stationary, so it’s not like it would be the first physics defying mount.
I completely forgot hightmountain existed until I read this, that should’ve been an obvious idea for their mount.
draenei have visited many worlds before azeroth and draenor supposedly, it shouldn’t be too lorebreaking to retcon them having found some unique flying mounts in their travels.
or some kind of technology based mount, they can make spaceshifts after all, surely they can make a hovercraft.
I know forsaken already have a monopoly on bats, but what about some undead creature? if they don’t use living horses, why do they use living bats?
what was the hunter class mount? some kind of flying wolf? that’s about the best idea I have for them, but they’re also missing a ground mount technically as well.

High Mountain Tauren - rocs (buzzard variation)
Humans - flying steeds with horns (cross between Pegasus and unicorn)
Worgen - wolfhawks
Kul-Tiran Human - skyships
Draenei - nether rays or talonbirds
Lightforged Draenei - phoenixes
Dwarf - gryphons
Dark Iron Dwarf - drakes
Pandaren - cloud serpent luck dragons
Night Elf - hippogryphs
Blood Elf - dragonhawks
Void Elf - void chimeras
Nightborne Elf - fathom or mana rays
Undead - cross between gargoyles and felbats
Goblin - rocket
Gnome - gyrocopter
Troll - bat
Zandalari - pterrordaxes
Orc - wind rider wyvern
