It’s pretty bad but to me it’s a fun movie like Meg or Jurassic World.
Anyways, it’s so cheesy that it makes 2 and 3 look like a Kubrick movie

i didn’t like it much either. the actors did a good job but the writing itself was just terrible and the storyline was just meh and there were too many clips from the other movies. i always hated when tv shows did those cheap clipshow episodes and matrix 4 kind of felt like that to some degree. and there were so many better directions they could have gone storywise and didn’t. it felt like a blatant cash grab meant to remind people that the matrix franchise exists and why aren’t you buying its merch anymore. kind of a weak entry. at least it got people to stop ripping on 2 and 3. i never got that. i consider the matrix trilogy to be one story rather then 3 parts so the groundbreaking nature of the first kind of counts toward the sequels. just my opinion tho.
it sucked badly. It went woke and like other woke films it will go broke.
I thought it was pretty damn good and those who I watched it with enjoyed it.
I don’t really want to say much more than that, because I don’t really want to get another forum vacation. Neckbeards will believe what they’ll believe - this is the modern era we are living in, where everyone is free to their own subjective truth (something the movie itself points out). It is what it is.
Box office for this movie came out and it made 69.9M dollar for 3 day weekend with 190 million dollar budget and was beaten by Sing 2 and meanwhile Spider-man NWH reach 1 billion dollars. So yea Matrix 4 is a flop.
It didn’t help that they waited nearly 20 years since the third movie released.
I don’t think so. I know lot fans been wanting for a 3rd Ghostbusters film for very long. The 2016 film did damaged the franchise but when afterlife came out it with good word of mouth people came to see that film.
Right now Ghostbusters: Afterlife is not going make all its money back, however they’re in good position to make it up with blu-ray sells. Bottom line here if you give the what they want and give out a good story, they will come in numbers and what Spider-Man: NWH had done.
Mixed feelings about this one. There are definitely seeds of good ideas that seemed like a good direction to lead the original trilogy story in, but the main plot of the movie is definitely lacking. The whole meta thing was unusual, but ultimately kind of pointless. I think Neo and Trinity shouldn’t have been the main focus. I wish they were more like passing legends at most, and the story focused on new characters.
I agree.
With all the time that’s past a new generation sounds like a better angle to me. Maybe have Neo and Trinity make appearances like Luke did in the newer Star Wars films or something. It may have paved the way for a younger fan base instead of relying on the older ones like myself.
It was released on HBO Max simultaneously which eats into the box office profits. I ended up watching it there as I’m sure a lot of other people did. If Spiderman came out on Disney+ I wouldn’t have gone to the theater.
The movie felt like it was just rehashing the original. The fight scenes were way less memorable and interesting than any of the previous Matrix scenes. Even the Matrix 2 & 3 had some really cool fights & car chase scenes despite not being as good as the original. Unfortunately the original fight choreographer passed away.
The cast was lacking as well. I thought Bugs was going to be the new main character, but she was dropped off after the first 15 minutes and forgotten about. The lack of Laurence Fishburne was kind of felt in the film.
The ending was the only actual good part. The original film is still a classic.
The biggest question is: Will you take the blue pill or the red pill?
that’s another reason.
Spider-Man is Sony so they won’t allow that just yet.
No Laurence Fishburne?
No Hugo Weaving?
No thanks.
I prefer facts, not “truth”.
If it’s truth you’re interested in, Dr. Tyree’s philosophy class is right down the hall.
I have a report that this film is likely to loss 200 million dollars…ouch!
Shows how little you know about the Matrix movies. They have ALWAYS been “woke” as ****. The first one is literally about the Wachowskis coming to terms with their trans identity and waking up to live in the real world.
Maybe, but that’s not what it’s about for most people, and no one other than the Wachowskis knew until recently. It works as an allegory for a variety of experiences.
I enjoyed the meta commentary but it went downhill after that
I finally saw it and really did watch it like comedy/parody
I’m always amazed by how that can happen; you know there was a huge pile of cash but that is the script they came up with. It is like some 14-year-old fan fiction writer came up with it, at recess.
It made me want to watch the original Matrix again, which was really the only real great one.
