This is the issue that plagues all underperforming classes. With few exceptions. Just adjust this. I don’t understand why this is so hard to do.
I second this… refuse to play my 22 mage anymore even though id love too simply bc after playing for 5m im reminded by how awful it feels. Going oom after every single pull and drinking for 45 seconds while your grp clears the next 4 trash packs does not feel good. Wanding is not the answer playing by the 5 second rule is beyond borring. In all seriousness who actually enjoys that playstyle? Whats the point of all these new shiny abilities if we cant use them without going oom in 10 seconds. I think 80% of my time in dungeons is just spent drinking.
Level. Twenty. Five.
This doesn’t change bro. Lmao. You just don’t see it because sweaty boomers and zoomers have minmaxed 20 year old content so raid encounters take 1 minute. Anything longer than 3 minutes is absolutely taxing.
No base mechanics will be touched, SoD shares a codebase with era and HC so nothing but runes and new items will be modified.
chain-spamming special abilities is not how MMOs were played 20 years ago.
if you seek a classic mode, prepare for classic gameplay.
People say this, yet they were able to change bubble hearth specifically in hardcore without influencing other modes.
Shaman can learn dual wield as a skill without having to have a rune equipped. They get this by doing the lava lash rune quest chain, but the DW skill works without having any specific rune equipped. They could add other abilities to classes in this same way beyond just giving runes.
They can add buffs to the game, this easily includes server-wide hidden aura buffs that could easily adjust mana mechanics or make other changes that only apply to SoD servers.
Trash packs you should be smashing dps as a mage with aoe. Equip more int?
Which is max level. Isn’t the game supposed to be balanced at max level?
If they can reduce all damage done by players in WSG (not pets for dumb reason), they can reduce all mana consumption by a set amount by literally just copy-pasting some code and changing values.
they aren’t going to constantly do massive buffs and nerfs in order to keep it perfectly balanced. They probably don’t care that melee is super far ahead as they have planned for it to even out more as we get new runes and spells. Be a big kid and deal with it
Um, get some gear at 25. Say, go to SFK for your chest, etc. It’s not hard. But you definitely need stats to not run out of mana quickly.
Level 25 isn’t max level. Which is why some classes/specs are purposely kept the way they are for now. There’s going to be undoubtedly some classes that are just going to feel better right now because we aren’t even half way through the leveling process.
Wand more–pace yourself. Sheesh, this is really a non-issue tbh. You’re not playing on Retail where you just spam spells endlessly.

Yes, another bit of great advice – get a wand that is better than the Dwarven Flamestick. I’ve seen like 4 YouTube videos with someone using this in raid. Seriously.
Magic actually costing mana is a core part of the classic experience. If you’re having mana issues you have to learn to down-rank spells and use mana potions. I really don’t want to see magic retail’ed.

Fair point - but they introduced a raid that is tailored for level 25 characters. Phase 2 will introduce a raid tailored for level 40 characters. If a class/spec rotation or general gameplay is too mana intensive doing content it is level appropriate for … that is just a design flaw that should be addressed.
In phase 2 the casters will be better then they currently are, but will they catch up to the physical damage classes… probably not.
and that raid is doable by all classes and specs, just because some are stronger doesn’t mean the weaker ones deal negative damage. We’re not even 1/2 to max and many of our core abilities are still locked away, it was never going to be well balanced. The sooner you accept this the sooner you have fun
I do play for fun. I also accept that as a low tier class on the meta list you are unlikely to find groups willing to bring you to BFD.
Enhance shaman, frost mage, fire mage - most of these are rough finding groups for.
a few things here.
1- if you’re willingly playing a non meta spec, why are you mainly trying to raid through pugs? pugging is the most widely known way to have a bad time in wow. So why do it? Just join a guild and sign up to their raids. My guild has like 5 BFD runs everyday and literally anyone with a pulse can go
2- what exactly do you want Blizz to do about this? Turbo buff the the damage of whatever spell rank you currently have right now? nerf the mana costs of everything you cast erasing mana management and the wand item? what happens when phase two hits and these enhancement shamans get stormstrike? we turbo buffed everything else in order for level 25 to be perfectly balanced so what then? how long until the forums are absolutely flooded with the exact same people screaming for nerfs this time?
its fine, the balance is fine. Play whatever spec you want but don’t be shocked when the worst way to play wow is a bad time
