“/bg To Arms Men! We need 5-8 of our mightiest defenders to protect the IB choke (50, 56). After we die a glorious death, we will recall to defend the mighty Drek.”
The general strategy is this: horde waits at the narrow IB gap between the tower and graveyard. It doesn’t matter if Alliance take time to do Balinda, Horde stay put in the gap to catch anyone sneaking by. Even just 8 horde can force the entire alliance offense to dismount.
Any horde killed have the chance to immediately resurrect right next to the battle and keep the alliance occupied.
Once the alliance are victorious in getting past this group, the entire defense simply has to recall to Drek and they can return to stalling/killing alliance. If they hide in Drek’s room they can pop out and get kills while the allies go for the graveyard near Drek.
Any alliance killed get sent to the north, so if you just get 5-10 kills that gives Horde a massive advantage. In most games, the Horde remained ahead of the alliance the entire match.
All it took was a simple macro. GG Alliance, your move!

The IB Choke is definitely the reason I believe this BG is horde favored. Alliance might have an advantage in a BG where neither side disrupts the other but that choke specifically is really strong.
We still crush it with a Galv—>Drek (Kill Lts and Comms on the way) strat, but anyone going straight to drek gets annihilated by that because its all free kills.

Exactly. And when we die we resurrect right next to the ongoing battle. It’s completely unfair.

Nah you tend to get really garbage PVE servers that intentionally don’t read anything and cause 1 hour turtles, because “I suck at math and how anything works and don’t tell me how to play.” They want everyone to be dragged down to their own level and have everyone’s times wasted since they can’t PVP on their server.

bro just rush to the end faster than the other guys
XD
Alliance aren’t causing the turtles 99 out of 100 times. When alliance are getting pushed into a corner and corralled into Dun Baldar, that’s not alliance turtling, that’s a horde turtle that converted to an offensive push.
You must be one of those “Go straight to drek cuz is the best rep per hour” people. I hope you guys finish your grind soon so YOU can stop being the problem.
The thing the alliance have to adjust to next is when all forty horde head directly into the alliance (whether they go east or west side). Since alliance normally don’t dismount to nuke horde, they’ll get a lot of free kills and be forced to fight that many horde. Resulting in the easiest wipe of the initial push and a conversion of awful players to fishing or other afk activities.
But yes, Alliance counter this by realizing that horde are forcing a turtle and it has to be countered. They have to realize that they can’t turn this into a 10 minute win. So when horde do an all in like that, you wipe out as many as possible, the dead rez at SH GY and start capping everything that isn’t capped and focus on holding SF GY and keeping IBT held. Not every game is going to be an 8-12 minute base race, and alliance have to understand and adjust when horde decide on having a 30 minute slugfest. There’s only 2 results when this strat is used. Either horde have 4.5 to 5k honor and a win or Alliance have 4.5 to 5k honor and a win.

This is the point of my other thread - Alliance PvPers who have nothing but bitterness at their own failure, which they have to defer down to someone else, so they blame people on PvE servers because that’s the PvP paradigm.
Without exception every Alliance loss I’ve endured has been caused by herp derp PvPers who rush to Drak while typing insults in chat, and refuse to listen to anything but their own toxic abuse. And then blame “PvEers” for the inevitable loss.
The Horde smashing you guys in world PvP the past few weeks must have really damaged you, huh.

The problem is that both sides are slowly going to old Vanilla strats.
The days of trying to speedrun the map with a risky all-in fragile strategy to get sub optimal rep and abysmally garbage amounts of honor are over.
That’s not pvpers those are bandwagoners who think there’s only one strat that always wins.
Also alliance need to do more backcapping. Horde are so used to being uncontested when they push north that I not only solo capped all the bunkers on my way up there, I got SP GY uncontested and took DB GY while 20 of them were next to me nuking a marshal. (When I get home I’ll link that screenshot lol)

And why don’t they learn that once you cap the FWGY you have to leave a small force to keep it. Do that and you multiply the chance of a win by three.

We do that, and as cute as “Don’t take IB GY” is, that strat is AWFUL when you are dealing with a turtle. I’d rather have the same mage or hunter I killed twice spawn in their start point and have to run to FW or IB than start at IB. When FW GY is taken, IB GY should also be taken at a very similar time. Shortly after they’ll have SH GY taken, so they’ll spawn up there for Horde who want to not turtle.
Horde can’t win the race without some people slowing the allies.

i miss the easy 8 min 3k games should have just went 24 hours then
I personally love how the dynamics are changing. It’s about making adjustments and everyone working together. This is why this bg is fun.
I get it can be fast easy honor. Sorry
Not sorry. Idc. I’m playing for fun. Pvp is fun for me. I’ve been defending after Bal to slow the ally zerg and when I see we are ahead. I push North.
I’ve died 100’s of time. I met the ally zerg head on by myself just for laughs. It was funny but I did slow down at least 10 of them who dismounted to kill the poor lone 55 hunter.
I’ve seen the Frostlord summoned. I’ve seen the horde zerg win because the defense slowed the ally zerg. I’ve seen too many on defense. I’ve seen too many on offense.
Players have to watch and adjust as needed. This is what makes pvp battles. It’s not an AI you’re dealing with. You’re dealing with people capable of reading situations and adjusting to them. Not a programmed never changing logic routine.
All hail the horde D! Alliance are already starting to adjust to the strat
So can’t wait to see what we come up with next! Your move allies. The horde D is waiting for you! Good Defense with an effective offense wins AV!
Once the rep grind is done for most. The honor grind meta changes again. Back to WSG and full premades. Lol.

Uh, it’s more than the IB choke. Their tower position versus our bunker position massively favors them. They can also walk right up the back of Dun Baldar, but this was hotfixed on the horde side, where we can no longer go up to the Frostwolf Keep the same way.
There’s also so many LoS issues with pushing into the horde base that doesn’t affect defense, whereas there’s nothing of the sort on Alliance’s side. Hell, Stormpike Graveyard’s entire design is a joke.
I don’t know why people ever thought AV was well designed or balanced in any way; even the old version was stupid as hell. The devs were on something, not onto something.
Except your GY is in front of the choke, not behind it. That’s why IB is so unfair.

A few points:
In retail, for some reason, Horde took 10+ years to suddenly realise the IBT choke point was in fact a gamechanger.
Eventually Blizzard made a half-hearted attempt (You’re welcome Alliance!) to balance this by adding a snowdrift to the SHGY… not sure what idiot thought that would assist but it effectively did nothing.
Classic will not have any such interference with the horde ability to control AV.
Once Alliance have Stormpike rep they will move on to WSG only. Why go into AV when 90% of the time Horde will control the game, farm alliance and win? The horde queues for AV will grow and grow as less and less alliance bother (except perhaps the odd pre-made group)
WSG is at least reasonably balanced and will provide Alliance with the ability to get some honor.

The truth is that Faerlina, with our 3-7 20+ man premades, carried the Alliance for 3 days straight inflating everyone elses ego and now those people who talked trash who were getting carried across the finish line are left to rot.
With how often people trolled us by pulling the entire drek room and then saying how bad we are, Id say the Alliance deserve every single thing thats coming to them.
It’s been pretty interetesting to see how the games play out differently over the past week.
How alliance were crushing games in 7 mins while horde got honor and a loss.
Now it seems both factions are playing it a bit slower, getting a towers and galv/bal

Horde definatly stepped up their game, but their still loosing alot more then they win
