The m+ changes is a gold making opportunity

Just hold a key hostage with a group until they pay up so they dont get marked…

This is literally whats going to happen woth the changes…
A better solution would be:
Make people lose rating upon leaving, just like in pvp, dont time a key? Lose some rating, leave a key? Lose alot of rating…this will truly differentiatewhos actually good vs bad…but pve players want their hand held…and hence ransom situation will arise due to this new system

And then, in the second and third iterations, you get ban hammered.

The only people coming up with these scenarios are leavers.

The best players in the world leave more keys than the worst players in the world.

It’s been done to death, PvE rating =/= PvP rating.

I’ll take things that won’t happen for 500, Alex.

Until they get banned. Plus it wont work because you can just leave. The odds of this happening to any one person to the extent they get marked seems quite low.

There are so many scarecrows making these types of conspiracy threads, right Toto?

Do people know there is a report system? Especially easy ban when chat is involved.

They labor under the belief that trolling isnt going to be an actionable offense.

Don’t we already see threads on here about timewalking tanks demanding payment before the last boss?

I’d say the odds of this happening are equal to that, and we already see that happening.

One thread where the tank asked for a tip.

Blizzard did expressly state in the interview “we will no longer be penalising players on the account level for leaving mythic plus groups.”

They now will shift the focus to the leaver’s mark only and let the community sort it out.

Which, in my opinion, is really just whatever.

Is a key going poorly? Leave it. Get a leaver mark? Run your own key like five times or whatever and lose the mark.

Today. Over the past 6 months I’ve seen more than a few.

Quote where they said that

Over the past two weeks where I start and end the day looking at Gen, I have only seen one.

. If you are leaving keys too often in this first iteration, we’re not going to penalize you on an account level.

Ath is getting confused about the punishment. They do not punish right now, but will eventually based on the wording in that interview.

No, Athernon intentionally spreads misinformation all the time. It’s why I call him out. If Athernon says something, ask for a source. 99 times out of 100 he won’t provide one, because he’s making it up.

Try reading the second half of the sentence you quoted.

I was talking about the people attempting to hostage hold. That is very much account actionable.

I’ll take the mark of the leave and wear it proudly before I’ll ever give a single copper to a glorified mythic+ terrorist thinking they’re going to get one over on me.

The absurdity of you people though…this is pretty far on the extreme of things that’ll never happen.

To summarize…

M+ rating will never “go down” because M+ rating is only a record of the furthest you’ve been. Like you can’t lose CE if you get killed by the boss, you can’t lose the keys you’ve timed.

People use PvP rating as an example when it isn’t even remotely the same, you win and gain points or you lose and lose points to varying degrees based upon the difference in the MMR between players. In PvE, you either successfully clear the content and receive points, or you don’t and receive nothing with higher levels being worth more points and when pushing into the higher key ranges, failure is more likely so it would be counter-intuitive to remove points from leaving, it’d mean the only people getting the top % title would be people who bought carries for mid-level keys with a 100% success rate instead of the people actually pushing the hard content.

When chat is involved is literally the only time it’s an easy penalty, and that’s entirely avoided by people just not talking in chat.

You are completely outside your mind if you think the type of griefing people are going to do in response to being held hostage is going to be actioned with any regularity.

If you are leaving keys too often in this first iteration, we’re not going to penalize you on an account level.

Think of it like an arms race. You got Trolls on one side, Blizzard on the other. Trolls keep trolling, Blizzard keeps making the punishment more severe.
