It’s interesting how Lyrical Nanoha A’s Portable Continuity has the Dream of the Book of Darkness(Stern the Destructor), the Darkness of the Book of Darkness(Dearche) and the True Darkness of the Book of Darkness(Yuri Eberwein) all fully active as sentient beings with the implication that they combined with Levi the Slasher are capable of reviving the Book of Darkness itself!
Dearche’s statements of unleashing writhing horrors on Earth if it weren’t for the fact that it’s too small for her indicate that not only are the Materials of the Book of Darkness’s Defense System capable of reviving the Book of Darkness but are also capable of summoning other Eldritch Horrors.
As Gears of Destiny’s Ending describes Dearche finding ways of using the Book of the Purple Sky to aid Eltria’s recovery I have no doubt Dearche revived not only the Book of Darkness and the Will of the Book of Darkness but also revived a couple of Dark Fragments too…
Why aren’t they mentioned in the 2 Audio Dramas? Same reason the Amitie and Kyrie Florian’s younger(and more deadpan) siblings weren’t mentioned despite being known to exist from the Florian Sisters’ mention of them in Gears of Destiny.
Of course the Book of Darkness with the Will of the Book of Darkness can exist without worries(and since Dearche was in close proximity to Reinforce she could revive her with all memories up to the point where the Materials left for Eltria) one would think the Dark Fragments might need adjustments to not get sucked into either the Materials or the Book of Darkness.
The easiest adjustments would be creating a frame around them to keep them from shattering easily, removing any Auto-Attack function and creating an inner frame to keep the holes in the data from being filled thus preventing them from resolving the feeling of incompleteness they have.
Of the Dark Fragments that aren’t overly aggressive(and thus unusable) the base of their personalities would be this:
- Dark Hayate would be nagging everyone for matches(and become Dearche’s personal punching bag)
- Dark Nanoha would be gloomy and insecure
- Dark Fate 1 would be burying her emotions 24/7(especially after knowing she is a copy of the real Fate created by a fragment of a Belkan Program)
- Dark Fate 2 would be filled with doubt(and would probably avoid mentioning Precia’s hatred of the original Fate to Dark Fate 1)
- Dark Vita 1 would be miserable
- Dark Vita 2 would just be irritable and impatient as ever(and aware that she is not the real Vita and quite accepting of any explanation given by the Materials)
- Dark Shamal would be calm
- Fragment Reinforce would be hungry at all times
- Fragment Stern would be perpetually glaring due to the murderous rage she feels at all times
- Fragment Levi 1 would be playing with the other Dark Fragments and the real Levi
- Fragment Levi 2 would be made painfully aware before hand that absorbing any Data to complete herself would be fatal and simply just do as told serving as the easily ordered around brute
We really should have an Anime that delves into the Purple Sky Family’s life on Eltria in the Portable Continuity. I would love to see the Florian Sisters’ younger siblings as well as the Writhing Horrors and any possible resurrected Book of Darkness and Dark Fragments!
