The Lucid Nightmare

So its been a few years now since this madness-inducing mount was put in the game. How many of you managed to survive it and got that lovely mount, and has it got any easier in time?

I wont tell you how many hours I put into getting mine but unless its for something extraordinary I can assure you I will NEVER go through that sort of nuttery again for a mount. It wasnt just the time needed (done as much probably for other mounts) it was the method. I think I began to hear voices at one stage…

I got it recently, I think if anything it got harder since there was supposedly an addon that worked for the maze, but definitely does not work anymore. Had to map it all out by hand on paper, it was super annoying but only took about an hour for the maze portion. I don’t remember anything before the maze, it was all pretty easy to follow directions on wowhead

Have to disagree. I loved it, every second of it was facinating to me - particularly the fact that there was never anything released by blizzard to tell people how to find this, a community of players managed to figure out the puzzles and piece everything together themselves… absolutely unreal.

The journey itself I look back on fondly, and kind of wish that I could get rid of the mount and do it again. I haven’t done hive mind yet, but I hear that’s quite the ordeal as well.

I think these kind of easter egg situations should be in every expansion in some way shape or form. Such random, obscure findings, all being put together for a cool/unique prize. Such a neat idea.

I got it when it first came out but haven’t bothered on this account.

I went in blind and just did it all from memory from room to room. I remember addons and people making physical maps of the rooms and still taking 10 hours lol.

I think I was in there for about 2 hours though. Had to backtrack a couple times and regroup.

I remember preferring the waist of time one. Although I enjoyed both. I’ll have to look into the hivemind that someone mentioned above.

The addon never worked for the stairs that were supposed to be part of MSV.

I always went up never down, and took the first door on the right (even if that meant the last door on the left), and I got through it.

I have yet to do it mainly because I’m pretty sure I have PTSD from the Neopets Lost Desert plot ages ago that had the 1000 tomb maze. Had to map that sucker out using mspaint. The image was so large.

So yeah, not eager and I went and ground out 100 reps for the white.version instead! I’ll do it someday, cause mount, but yeah.

That’s me riding Lucid with Uuna looking on. Isn’t she just to die for??

How cool would it be if humanoid companions would mount up on a smaller version of whatever you’re using.

I spent a couple of hours doing it by memory, no maps.
It did start to get to me a bit towards the end but then it was over.

You unlocked deep traumatic memories I thought I repressed for good… I am horrified now…

“has it gotten easier?” No, you still have to do the same process/maze that everyone else had to.

It was one of the most fun moments I had in the game.

I have all the secret mounts, pets and cosmetics in the game except one. The Waist of Time. Just never got around to it.

Got mine back when it was live and OMG its so beautiful… until it moves. Looks like a horse trying to buck off some dog deuce stuck to its hoof.

AWFUL animations, beautiful standing still…

I got to the part with the maze and had to stop because, at the time, my internet would go out randomly. If you DC, it seemingly resets the maze.

I agree 100%, these easter eggs are fantastic.

I got it during bfa. Spent over 10 hours straight in the endless halls physically grid mapping the place.

Its been years since ive had to do something like that.

Still dont have the hive mind since i cant do it solo.

I did! Still one of the coolest things they’ve ever put in the game. It got easier once the secret finders had solved it and published step by step instructions. It utterly staggers me how these things get figured out!

If there was an addon I didn’t use it. I also did a hand drawn map! Honestly that made it that much more fun. Hand drawn maps are super old school!

That maze, i tried mapping it out, doing every add’on, and finally said f’ it and ran around and completed it. One of the most frusturating yet fun things i have ever done in wow. Still would not do again, but 10/10 would due once.

Thanks to my map reading skills from Sid Meier’s Pirates, and a couple pages of paper, I did it all!
