The Love Rocket Mount NEVER Drops

I ran the instance this year for about 50 times total over several days. And then I just couldn’t stand it anymore and just said “screw it”. Any change to this extreme RNG fiasco will be welcome for next year’s Love is in the Air event.

I think right now our response when these ultra rare farmable mounts drop is not excitement over getting a rare cool mount but, rather, relief that we no longer need to do that content, and I just can’t believe that that is the response you’re seeking.

This is about how I feel. Running MoP WB weekly on 20+ characters and I have not gotten a single mount. Running the WoD WB on the same 20+ weekly as well. I think each time, ‘Can 1 just drop so I can kill 4 a week instead of 5?’
For the Love Rocket, this is the last holiday item I need. This is the last week of 9.1.5, and running 33 characters a day for holiday boss while trying to level a couple more to 50 before it ends, is taking all my free time that I would normally use to prep for the next patch.

I stopped trying honestly, not worth it especially since they basically decided to target it for a name change anyways. Would never use it, so no more.

Might be an unpopular opinion but… I farmed all of the Pandaria mounts and didn’t find it anywhere near as ridiculous as the love rocket.

• On the rocket you have to log in to potentially 50 characters PER DAY if you want to be efficient. That pressure doesn’t exist on the same level with the Pandaria mounts since they are available year round and on a weekly lockout.

• You have to be at near max level to farm the rocket. Not so with the Pandaria mounts. The time sink for leveling to farm the rocket is probably the most unfun part.

• You can double your chances at the Pandaria mounts with the tokens. This significantly cuts into the time required to farm them.

With that being said I think doubling the drop rate would be fine.

Guess ya’ll have never tried to get the Galleon/Rukhmar mounts? I am over 8200 attempts across characters since MOP first came out.

I hope all mounts are re eventuated. I understand 1% mounts but these mounts below that… are they really needed to be this rare to the point I no longer have fun doing other content to spend my day doing this.

some will call me borderline insane and while I agree - once you have spent years doing it, you feel you can be close to it dropping.

Guess ya’ll have never tried to get the Galleon/Rukhmar mounts? I am over 8200 attempts across characters since MOP first came out.

I think Rukhmar’s drop rate (.2%) should be the absolute minimum under any circumstances, and the ends really need to justify the means (example: NOT IN A LIMITED HOLIDAY PERIOD). The .05% MoP and .03% BLR rates are asinine.

Would it really be all that hard to just make it a 3-5% drop rate THIS year? It’s only been about a decade.

I mean you clowns tripped all over yourselves changing the name of this mount only to leave everyone “pocket” love rockets that are apparently not offensive. It’s too bad that zealotry didn’t fix the drop rate too during the crusade.

Or you could make holiday currency stick around and have the price be about two events worth of currency. That way a player who can’t get it to drop could get it after trying for it for a couple years.

I really like this as a kind of “back luck” protection so that one could be guaranteed a drop in two or three years depending on the effort put in to acquire currency.

What they need to do is make the questlines reset so you can do them again each year. How many longtimers even remember what the story of Midsummer and the Twilight Hammer or sneaking into Ravenholdt to investigate Crown Co or the mystery murder that led to the Creepy Crate pet?

I was 38 when I began my journey to acquire the X-45 (Love Rocket), so very young. Years have passed, alts have been leveled and more and more daily attempts made.

Now I am 50…I have 20 alts eligible to loot the box. Each day I put them through what I have been calling my “Einstein’s Insanity” routine.

Blizz, you CAN change this now. You CAN make this a reality for so many who have made this game a big part of their lives. I’ve been subbed without interruption since before this event began and accomplished so much over all these years within this game.

Now I worry, unfortunately legitimately, that my tombstone will read:
“Here Lies Dilly…Husband, Father, Brother, Veteran - but never Love Rocket Owner”

Please don’ t wait until I have passed to fix this. Not just for me, for everyone else who has wished for so long to possess this mount.

Thanks for everything you all have done and thanks in advance for implementing a solid change now (because you CAN) that will put this mount into everyone’s hands that want it.

Put it on the vendor for a price that is deemed high enough that you can’t farm it in one event

but why?
Players shouldn’t need to compromise like that…
It’s a holiday event, make the mount 100% obtainable some way or another by people that participate in the event.

The bad news is that even if we do end up making changes, they wouldn’t be in time for this year’s Love Is In the Air holiday event.

Why is that? We have a week to go. You guys pushed a fix for the doomhawk, I’m sure you could do something for the love rocket. Your players shouldn’t need to wait another year…

Take a hint from FF14. Every event they add new items. Every. Single. One. They are always 100% obtainable by characters level 10-15 and up with some time, no rng. They can also use their cosmetic items all year if they want to…

Just a thought, put a high token cost on the mount.

The only way this could work is if tokens persisted after the event. I believe the most you can get per day is like 50 tokens unless you charm farm.

Or make them transferrable across your characters, or make the currency account bound or…

Personally I’m ok with it continuing to be a rare drop. Just maybe not quite as rare?
I’ve also farmed it on 10-15 alts every year and am pretty burned out.
