The Littlest Defender quest that you have to do in order to unlock the shadow barb drone mount in uldum is way too hard is there any trick or way to get this done? I am using all three battle pets in my party and they all die every time.
Sorry probably too late to help since it would have reset by now but I can suggest a strat if it comes up again.
You only need the Shadowbarb in your team, it doesn’t have to take the field.
A huge number of the new legendary pets can be beaten by the one-two punch of Unborn Val’kyr, and a Flock-type pet that gives the double damage debuff.
In the case of the Baruk Defender, he is a humanoid so the Macabre Marionette’s Dead Man Party is especially effective.
So the basic idea is, start with the Val’kyr, Curse of Doom and then Haunt, bring in the Marionette, Dead Man’s Party, and the Curse damage hits with the double debuff up. Your Hatchling gets credit from the back line.
Different variations work for most of the other new legendary pets if a similar quest comes up again.
Unfortunately the Val’kyr isn’t that easy to get hold of, you have to find your own out in the wild. But it is a staple of PvE pet battling so worth doing it some time.
Also, it sounds like they are feeling the Flock style attacks are a little too OP and may be getting nerfed in Shadowlands.
I don’t do battle pets and only have a few at level 25 (which I got to that level only by using pet charms lol) but a guild mate told me how to beat him and it was easy and he let me borrow the pets required. 1) Bone Shard in first slot, Zandarlari Anklerender in second slot and your shadowbard in 3rd slot.
2) Send out Boneshard 1st and use Blistering Cold and then Chop ability, change pets to the Anklerender
3) Anklerender use Black claw then Hunting party and watch the “boss’s” health go down to about 250
He killed my anklerender so I brought out boneshard again and used chop then he killed boneshard and I brought out the Shadowbarb and finished him off.
Now all pets were level 25- borrowed the level 25 Boneshard and level 25 Anklerender from a friend (yes sent them back lol) and I used my pet charms to level Shadowbard to level 25 - this can be done with 60 pet charms in your WoD Garrison. You can buy the token to level to 25 from the pet trainer there. Note: Pet charms are account bound so u can send them to your other toons.

That works if you happen to have those pets. Many of us don’t have the faintest desire to do pet battles and for some reason Blizz thought it would be a good idea to frustrate people by throwing this crap in. I just spent an hour trying to accomplish this quest and have about decided I don’t even want to finish it. They should have at least given the option of letting you skip the pet battle quests and providing a different one the next day but nope. If I don’t do it it’s another stupid pet battle quest the following day.
