The life of the Elemental Shaman (PVP)

New Expac drops…

Me: “Wow, elemental feels pretty good! I feel like I’m doing some good damage!”
Me 2 weeks later: Well, we got a nerf but we are still decent…"
Me 4 weeks later: Man, another nerf. At least we still help as a mid tier utility player!
Me 6 weeks later: “Welcome back wet noodle.” I wonder how Pallys are doing?"

Odd things that remind you of how ignored shamans are:
1: Why, in Gods name, if I can turn into a wolf, even with my 20% increased speed and I always at the top of slowest classes? I can turn into a wolf! I should at least be able to move faster than someone on two feet?

2: Its 2023 and I still have to dismount to cast water walk.

3: Its 2023 and my lighting bolt is a 1.6 second cast time, Even with 14% haste, and the odd chance I do get to cast it, it hits roughly for… 30-50k. LMAO!

4: Per usual, everyone getting buffs and reworks and guess what you haven’t heard from in an expac that features… Elemtantal Sh*t?.. Elemental shamans.

5: 4 is technically not true… We did get something as elemental in the last patch. They gave is 250k in… Mana. Elementals don’t use mana for anything except healing. They gave us a healing boost for elemental. LMAO! That literally says… “We don’t care about your class, so, here, you can live 5 seconds longer now…”

Blizzard, for the love of all that is good in this world… I don’t even care if it isn’t shamans, can you changer it up a bit? Jesus, nothing says you don’t care about your game more than buff and giving all the attention to the same, old, tired, op classes?

Fun fact I learned all these years: Shaman players are always the most skilled at their classes because they are constantly having to adapt to the nerfs, clunky utility and long cast times for little reward. Ever play an Enh shaman? Best WOW players there are.

Well, that’s my rant for the day.

To be fair, I think rogues have gotten ignored pretty hard, but maybe Blizz just can’t find them.

ele is typically strong in rbgs

Elemental is still good. :dracthyr_comfy_sip:

Out of the top 5000 players in 3’s, 134 are Ele Shaman.
Now that may not sound good but let me put it into perspective.

There are…
385 Shadow Priests.
310 Balance Druids.
212 Demo Warlocks.
189 Destro Warlocks.
— 134 Elemental Shamans
88 Frost Mages.
88 Affliction Warlocks.
78 Augmentation Evokers.
67 MM Hunters.
63 Fire Mages.
55 BM Hunters.
28 Devastation Evokers.
21 Arcane Mages.

Elemental is the 5th best Ranged right now. Yeah, Shadow and Druid are broken. But the 5th best Ranged doesn’t get to play the woe is me card.

I’m sorry that you don’t 1 shot someone with a Stormkeeper buff, or deal 90% of their HP while CC-ing them with Lasso, but that doesn’t mean you’re bad.

Shaman is the only class that can keep 60% increased speed in BGs. The best flag carrier by far based on speed alone. WTH are you talking about.

Like every other spell. If anything, it’s odd that DKs don’t dismount when casting PoF.

Frostbolt has the same cast time and hits for half that damage. What are you crying for?
It’s a filler. The damage comes from Lava Burst and Earth Shock/Elemental Blast.

Overall, elemental is in a good place in BGs (the PvP that matters to me), so your complaints aren’t valid IMO. If anything, I just want to cast LB on the move again, since Frost Shock spam (not empowered by Icefury) is not a good alternative against moving targets.

Addendum: I play all classes, and Elemental Shaman is my main alt, with Frost Mage being my main character.

But traditionally, they have always been strong. For, like, ever…
But the shaman class, since I have been playing it, and that’s since 2012? We come out decent and end at the bottom. Every single expac.

You could always spec into Enhance and global people in literally the same millisecond that you press doom winds.

5000? lmao! You do the top 100 as a measure (standard) but I will even go as far as 200…

In the top 200 PVP players, Elementals have 2. That is a 1% representation.
The lowest of any class.

You’re ridiculous.
Would you visit France and then make a general opinion about the entirety of Europe? Texas to judge the entirety of USA?
You want to judge a spec based of 0.001% of the player base? Where they will flock to a spec that is 1% better?

The fact that the 200 best players in the world even pick up Ele is proof that it isn’t bad.

Uhm… That’s not the correct comparison. your numbers are so big, it just ends up being an overall player base comparison. Its also not even close to a direct relation…

This is a true comparison:
Take the top 200 richest people and rank them by age. If I am 35 and 2 people in the top 200 are 35-40, I only represent the 1% of the top richest… As you go lower in Wealth (in this case the game) you will get more diversity. Its natural. Its also why they aren’t as rich as the top 200.

In WOW and most MMO’s, hardcore players will always play the class that gives them the biggest advantage. The OP class. The worst class is usually represented low in the top 200, IE: Elementals. They are the lowest. In fact, they are the lowest until you get to 500… Then it evens out with the other classes.

A 1% representation in the top 200 isn’t bad… Its terrible.

Mmmkay, lemme just jot this down for the blizz planning meeting;

“Buff paladins”.

Is that everything? Perfect, thanks.

lol… That’s usually the way it goes!

OP is right; shamans are bad. I don’t know how anyone plays this class. Give buffs pls.

1.6 Lightening bolt cast (you can get it off without interruption about 40% of the time) hits for… 28k. lol. Considering all the self heals now, that is the very definition of a “wet noodle”.

Elemental Shaman has been and apparently will always be the “meh” class for WOW.
I love the lore of it, I love the spells, I love its not easy to play, but I hate in the end of all that work, you hit like a 5"7 115 pound bantam weight vs a group that all hit like Mike Tyson.

I will admit, I am tired at how it’s always the same classes that excel at PvP, year after year.

-Warriors almost always have a faceroll spec they can rank-up fairly easily with.

-Druids, they have a lot of tools and Cyclone has always been strong. It’s funny how Resto Druid is probably at it’s weakest, and still very strong in PvP due to still having those tools.

-Rogues, although they suffer in PvE for being good at PvP, so I don’t mind them too much.

-Paladins, what the hell. Either they are god-tier, or they are trash. Currently god-tier.

-Warlocks and Priests usually have at least one spec that stomps. Disc was overpowered in season one, and now it’s Shadow.

I just think it’s lame that Shamans were extremely good for a minute, and got immediately nerfed. Let them have their time, there’s a ton of other classes that are constantly in the PvP spotlight.

I don’t agree with this, because that is such a small sample. A better sample would be all layers above x rating in y mode (2s, 3s, solo, rbgs, etc)

Honestly, ele shamans are a pain to fight. But, nowhere near as difficult as a sub rogue.

Elemental out here like

“GOD WE’RE SO GARBAGE”

Global’s someone

“Just entirely useless!”

Yeah, cuz that’s what you hear all the time “Focus the elemental shaman or we are all dead!” The only time I am focused like that is when they think I am a healer. Once they realize I am elemental, I am hard to kill, but my noodles wont hurt too much…

If you got a nerf then the spec was over performing
