You’re assuming a) that people want to move on to normal, and b) need to be educated.
Many just want to see the content, gear up a little, maybe complete a quest, and be done with it. They don’t have the time to commit to a dedicated raid group.
Assuming other players need to be…educated. Well, that’s just plain hubris. It’s not your call to tell people how to play or decide what level of difficulty they need to engage in. You go do you, and let them do them. Don’t be a dictator.
Which point in time are you referring to here? Because the number of difficulties has varied significantly across WoW’s history.
Since you mention thriving, let’s take the pinnacle of WoW’s subscriptions, WotLK. Most of the WotLK raids had 4 divisions. They were divided by raid size and difficulty. BC had 10man and 25man, and then they added the optional Hard mode in Ulduar. Heck, even Vanilla had 40man and 20man raids.
So instead of like minded people grouping together in a way they choose , just have each person do their own little solo with some npcs?
Ok here is my idea why don’t you do your choice of content with npcs only . Yeah I think that’s a good ideas I think people that think certain things like LfR should be the player only and some npcs for their raid group should have the same done to their normal - mythic raid content.
I agree with this sentiment, but it’s important to recognize that most of the AFKers aren’t the people who LFR is designed for. Its usually the raider or PvPer farming for WF/TF or on thier 5th alt who AFK because they feel they’re “above the content”. Now no mechanics should be one shot types, or allow 1 troll to wipe the raid, but I’m all for having the same fight, just softer for my dumb…
Remove LFR and make Normal que’able is kinda what you’re asking, maybe?
Normal is really, really easy. Make the encounters worthwhile, as well as the gear associated with it, even if it is 100% pug. You could still remove people if you needed.
Most 2 fingered monkeys can clear through normal with both hands tied behind their backs standing on their head.
I’ve wiped as much on lfr as I have on normal. Which isn’t a lot in either situation. “The harder difficulties” don’t actually get a lot harder until heroic. Lfr is fine.
Lfr purpose isn’t solely learning. It’s a way for people who don’t have time to commit to a raid team to sign up and do some raiding solo.
People need to stop worrying so much about lfr. It’s fine. Rewards average gear for an average solo que experience. It doesn’t hurt or help anyone really. It’s just another form of content for people to do.
No one does. But I can take $5 from my measly paycheck, buy a lottery ticket and make more than the whole company is worth. THATS what WF/TF is, nothing more than a lottery ticket. Does the VP stop working in protest that the lottery exists?? Do they take to the editorial pages or news blogs to berate its existence?? No, because it takes nothing away from thier job or performance, just like my scrub gear takes nothing away from you, even if I had managed to get lucky and have something WF/TF, which I haven’t. This toons been 120 for over 2 months, according to most anti-WF/TF/LFR threads I should have all TFed heroic level gear. Maybe I don’t because there really isn’t a problem??
I’m 53. My reflexes aren’t what they used to be even five years ago. On top of that, I have nerve damage in one hand. Even with macros and keybinds and DBM, I still mess up at times.
I don’t want to spend what time I have with people who are going to flip their lid because I screw up an easy mechanic and cause a wipe. Do you really believe anyone going Normal or higher wants to raid with me?
