No one is saying that BfA sucks cause the level cap.
People are saying Leveling sucks. Which it has… since like WoD, it sucked in Legion, and it also sucks in BfA. It is an issue not tied to any expansion and is a multi-expansion issue that will only continue to get worse if left in the current state.
Except Maplestory has actual reward for each and every level.
Go play Maplestory but move all the abilities to the first 100 levels, you’ll end up with the same thing that WoW is now with no one really wanting to level to cap.
Thing is, if they are looking into rework leveling (and that includes a level squish) then they can actually fix … well leveling. It’s been a major complaint in WoW for years. Another issue with leveling is WoW’s story. The pacing is horrible since the developers designed it for that expansion only.
A whole level-system rework could include a squish, add in the rewards that leveling needs, make it a better pace, and fix the story pace. A smart developer wouldn’t just implement a squish but also put into systems that can grow and easily be added onto.
Also Maplestory has 100% no problem with ditching abilities as you level up. The abilities you use at level 25 tend to be vastly different from those at 150. WoW developers do not want to fill spellbooks with X, and then when you get to level 80 X but better.
Reduce max level to 60, keep it at 60.
Give us talent trees back… boom…
obviously there’s more to add to this small list, and this is super unlikely to happen. (Minus the 60 lvl cap)
You clearly missing my point. Leveling squish will NOT solve things. Ya’ll are completely and utterly blind if you think it will. It only reduces numbers. Nothing more. It will NOT solve our current issues with leveling. I gave maplestory as a good and perfect example of a game that does fine with a high number level cap.
No they don’t. You clearly know nothing.
No they are the same as when you got the skill. Stop lying.
You clearly missing my point. I’m not comparing skills between the games. You silly orc. I’m saying maplestory handles it better leveling wise. Which wow fails at and maplestory shows you can have a good balance between leveling and high level cap. You just trying too hard to destroy my argument. You clearly twisting things. Just to prove your point.
DUH! I didnt say they didn’t you clearly misread. Which is wehy I sauid you can have a high level cap and leveling be fine that those being a abay over 120 know nothing.
I got several at 250 sweetie. You clearly misreading, etc. And no your wrong. lol nice try.
drops mic You can keep trying to destroy my points but it aint happen. Maplestory may have its bad points but it’s superior when it comes to having 250+ levels and how leveling works in their game. Proves that wow can do it too if they do it right. Making the whining 120 is too high into a stupid argument imo. People who never played maplestory know nothing on levels. lol
Uhhh yeah they do. Super early example: Leveling a pirate to bralwer. Once you get 1 point into Tornado upppercut, you will no longer use Sommersault Kick. As Tornado uppercut is the same exact thing as Sommersault kick, but with more damage and an extra effect.
Then once I get to 150 and thus I am decently leveled in my 4th job, why would I even touch Tornado uppercut anymore? It is vastly outclassed by Octopunch, Dragon Strike as a basic combo.
I actually saw this since guess what, I got 250 as a Buccaneer. I do not touch my active 2nd job or 3rd job skills anymore unless they are a buff.
Let’s look at my other class I leveled to 200, the Ice-lightning arch mage. The only third job skills left on my bar are Glacial chain (thanks to the utility) and ThunderStorm.
Outside of my classes I actually play, why would a Hero ever use Brandish once they get Intriped Slash? The answer is they won’t. Then they definitely won’t use Intripided Slash over Raging blow once they skill up raging blow to 10.
Brandish
Perform a double attack on enemies in front of you.
Level 20: MP Cost: 16, Damage: 280%, Number of Attacks: 2, Enemies Hit: 6
(560% total damage vs a single target)
Intrepid Slash
Deal 3 consecutive attacks on multiple enemies in front of you.
Level 20: MP Cost: 19, Damage: 258%, Number of Attacks: 3, Max Enemies Hit: 6
(774% vs a single target)
Raging Blow
Deals multiple blows to multiple enemies in front of you. The final blow will always be a critical. While you are Enraged, your single attacks are more powerful.
Level 30: MP Cost: 40, Max Enemies Hit: 8, Damage: 268%, Number of Attacks: 5, Final attack is critical. While enraged, Attack: 5 times, Damage: 285%, the final two attacks are criticals.
(1340% damage to a single target)
So you clearly know nothing The maplestory developers clearly do not care about preserving skills from one job change to the next, so there are overlap skills that you will level up in one job but will never use once you job up and get new toys.
You clearly 100% misread the quote I did while claiming I have been misreading. Let me say it slowly and clearly for you…
Go play Maplestory but move all the abilities to the first 100 levels, you’ll end up with the same thing that WoW is now with no one really wanting to level to cap.
That bolded part is extreamly important. I never said leveling maplestory wouldn’t be fun. I said IF THEY MOVE ALL THE ABILITIES TO THE FIRST 100 LEVELS, then leveling to 250 would not be fun.
In fact that actually happened in the past. Maplestory used to have a soft cap. Back before they released Third and fourth jobs most players usually stopped before ever reaching the cap (which was still 250). This was due to the lack of new things past a certain point, so the only thing you could do was grind thousands of old monsters to level up and when you do level up, you would gain nothing.
You’ve heard it/read it before? Great! Don’t click on the link. Don’t read it and MOVE ON. Anything else is a complainer complaining about a complainer. i.e. the most useless thing on the planet.
It only feels awful leveling because there isn’t any reward to it and the developers have done everything in their power to reduce xp gains. Even when you gain that last level there is only more grind and time-gating and rep-gating in front of you to artificially increase the amount spent on monthly subscriptions either through the actual subscription or through a Token. If there were some point to it, some something that felt rewarding about leveling 1-110 then it would feel better. It doesn’t because there isn’t.
I get sick of the “you’ll feel more rewarded for leveling up” nonsense. What about my reward for hitting 120? If you take that away, you take away an award I worked for. This is regression, and is, quite frankly, stupid.
