The Lag Monster is the one that will kill us all

Seriously… Blizz you really need to fix the lag!!! If anything drives me away from this game it is going to be these horrible play conditions.

its a running joke, every time I go quest on maldraxus, always see someone on chat say something in the lines of: “lagdraxxus we meet again” , don’t know why that zone is always laggy to the point I give up doing the quests there.

Bute hey like most people say, give blizz a break they are a small indie company after all…

The lag in Maldraxus is really bad today… and it isn’t just looting… It is abilities as well. Kind of tired of it after the last expansion being nothing but lagggggggg.

I can assure Lagenweald can rank up there as well…

From a technical standpoint, why does lag happen for some players but not all? I haven’t had any lag whatsoever.

Aye this is true… Yesterday trying to fish up feast mats was pretty bad… 10-20 seconds to loot. But ultimately that is what i’m saying. They really need to fix this. We all just simply want to enjoy our time in the game and not deal with hot garbage like this.

I don’t have any peach of a laptop (not gonna buy something new just for WoW’s sake) but Ardenweald really lags for me. I can understand why with all that stuff graphically happening.

Lagstion is a solid contender as well

I think it is related to the server or shard. I’ve never experienced lag in Bastion, but val’shara during prepatch, or Ardenweald sometimes when calling is up. World boss is always a lag fest, like ICC rares during prepatch. Though it is getting better when there are not as many players around.

According to the responses on a post I just made about this, this is entirely a you issue.

And apparently it’s a you issue for everyone else on the shard.

My guess is it’s a per shard issue and to save money they set the shards up to only be able to handle moderate load.

Why pay for more shards to handle peak load?

I’ve tried with and without my addons enabled… No there is something either wrong between me and them, or with them… But yes I do find it funny when question in chat the number of responses I get.

Well that’s not lag dear, that’s a poor frame rate. People really need to understand the difference between latency and frame rate. It’s understandable given that problems with either can produce conditions which could be described as ‘lag’, but you have the tools to check.

Press CTRL+R to toggle your FPS display. People have their own ideas of what acceptable frame rate is, but in my mind, 60 is the minimum you should accept.

You can hover over the ? on your HUD (the icon which you use to bring up the Game Menu) and that will show your latency. (Also conveniently displays your frame rate there too!)

Haha, yep. There’s definitely some kind of occasional server issue where you can hit wtf loot lag and such despite having a solid connection. Like reaaally abnormally slow response time on things.

98% of the time or more its fine, playing on both US and Oceanic realms, but very occasionally it seems one of the servers you happen to be on appears to be having, ugh, issues.

I know the difference.

Yes, sorry, I didn’t want to single you out or anything. Just using this is a platform to rant because people often don’t know the difference. Sorry!

After watching some mobs trail me for a while and leash for 100 yards or more, I suspect big part of the lag issue is MOB ai and path finding. And when you get a critical mass of people ridding horses with an army of mobs following and begging them to play, things go slow.

Premise being, mobs on set paths are in a low processing needs mode, maybe even so low as the server just tells the client mobs on step X of their path and the client is handling most of the non aggroed mobs needs.

But when a mass of people run by them the server has to take control and figure out where they’re going.

His name is Lagtard and he is an invisible raid boss. The only way to beat Lagtard is to aoe the ground and walls because he crawls on the walls like Uncovered in Paul Jennings novel. You also have to jump to avoid his lag attacks.
