The lack of ferocity pets in this expansion

I’m not sure about how other hunters are feeling but, so far in this expansion I feel that ferocity pets are a little uninspiring.

I was thinking that with how this new talent tree has been set up that if something similar could be set up for hunter pets in the future.

What if any type of pet, could perform at any type of role, whether it’s Tenacity, Ferocity or Cunning, with new abilities being added either by loyalty or levelling. Something similar to how it used to be before.

That’s how it used to be, and, as i recall, the hunter community begged for a long time to get selectable pet specs back.

But Blizzard has adamantly refused for specious reasons, and at some point we just gave up begging for it.

Apparently using using the same one or two pets for everything makes pet families more “unique” (which in this case, for some odd reason translates to “never used”) and improves “immersion” (which in this case, for some odd reason translates to “never feeling motivated to tame new pets”).

Hunter pets are super uninteresting. The skills are weak and bland. They need an overhaul badly

They need to let us have the ability to swap pet specs again. Im hard forced into a ferocity pet and its so annoying. You’re forced because you need lust and if you want to solo anything ferocity is the only way.

I love my clefthoof for BM solo shenanigans. But I wouldn’t mind having a reason to slot more than 2 or 3 pets in my roster.

Edit: No, Blizzard, this post is NOT a suggestion to nerf clefthooves. Please, no.

Clefthoof nerf incoming…jk. But they need bring back the legion respecing then build on that. They could eventually make it a mix and match and the pet is just cosmetic and they can use the azerite rings to fit abilities on as we train our pets.

Also need to undo the leech nerf for pets to make ferocity more viable or buff ferocity leech to 20 to 25% with current changes.

I want my old scorpion poison back

They need to either give us pet specs back…or just remove the other two and make them ALL ferocity.
So many pet options and 2/3 or more of them are too much garbage to bother with.

Might be because I mostly do group stuff and we usually have another lust, but why use ferocity if you arent in a situation where you need lust? Dont get me wrong, i want pet customization and freedom, but the leech has never done anything noticeable for me. Fortitude of the Bear has been a godsend of a defensive in my experience. I am not saying I know everything by any means, i know clefthooves are the best choice from a soloing perspective objectively, but I have never had any issues soloing anything i want (within reason) with my spirit beast. Ngl though, a big part of using the spirit beast is that sweet sweet troll spirit raptor fantasy haha

I use spirit beasts mostly for solo content. I just wish we could have the choice to give them ferocity talents if we wish too, especially now with the ferocity pets being so lacklustre.

Pets should be purely visual, IMO.

Give us a pet tree to spec how we want.

Have Companion for BM give us Primary/Secondary slots so because my OCD really wants to have 2 of the same pet out no matter what like my wolves Bimmy and Jimmy or my raptors Jake and Elwood. Every time I have to swap to something else it’s like nails on a chalkboard seeing two different pets.

15% leech is all I need to see.

Leech is constantly healing during combat.
I notice the second I change to any other pet.
Every point healed is one less chance to die.

Hunters in DF beta made a lot of noise about hunter pets having specs and the devs made some comment about wanting pet to be unique or some other nonsense. Like our pets are unique now eveyone runs around with the same 5 pets or so because they are the only ones worth useing.

Pets aren’t unique now. Nearly everybody has a Clefthoof. I would argue you’d have more unique pets if they allowed us the option to use any pet to do the same job.

That’s literally what I just said.

It’s what we’re all saying.

I think even the non hunters are saying it

The Leech on Ferocity helps the pet to survive better against elites. Of course, since most hunters go Animal Companion, their Ferocity pet doesn’t survive as well as one that doesn’t use Animal Companion, since a single pet does higher individual damage thus more leech. I have seen so many Hunters that had their pets die while mine just cruises along.

Blizz just gimped Tenacity pets too much so they can’t act as a secondary tank. They used to have large health pools and armor somewhat comparable to an actual tank and increased incoming healing, but now it’s just terrible. I also hate how they gimped Growl in dungeons and raids. Just turn it off automatically, but let it work effectively. I was one of the few Hunters that actually would use the pet Growl to take some of the pressure off the tank if it was more than they could handle. Of course so many tanks automatically taunt back then die instead of letting my pet tank it for a bit while the healer tops them off.

Bring back teaching your pet Bite 2.

I do wish growl was more useful as an “oh crap” button in raid. I remember legitimately trying to make pet tank work in bc ssc, specifically hydross to try and cheese the swap mechanic. Didnt work unfortunately because the pet still got debuffed lol.
