Anytime he could kill the heroes he just suddenly decides to leaves.
Someone please buy the writers a copy of Art of War. He could have killed the heroes at the end of SoD, but just suddenly left. He was literally about to overwhelm the main city in the current patch, as I would guess from an NPC going “There is too many of them,” but just leaves again. This is the worst war writing since the final season of Game of Thrones.
I feel less like I am winning/surviving and more like I am simply being allowed to live because the villain is an idiot.

The Jailer would be 1000x better with a GNOME in his heart hole!!
The gnome can chillax while telling him how to take over the universe. Easy!

The odd thing here is he is the head of a zone filled with evil vial villians. People so bad revendreth said we can’t fix these people.
so the place is filled with villains who are going I was doing pretty good till I did something stupid, got caught. got put down.
from these thousands of stories you’d think the jailor would learn…that thing you let live could be the thing that took you down. so…don’t let it live.
Think some writers were going it works for James Bond villains. Need hot cars and hotter female stars to make that work. I call it the fast and furious concept as they expanded this to extremes.
you can have the thinnest plots in the world. present race cars and race car models as the distractor and its okay.

I really enjoy this sentence.

Danuser couldn’t write his way out of a paper bag with someone holding his hand and telling him what to put down. He’s a hack writer and a creepy Sylvanas simp.

Congratulations. You singlehandedly solved all of the Jailer’s characterization issues.
It would be impossible to consider him to be a “boring” villain when he’s being piloted by one of the most innately humorous concepts ever to be featured in a WoW expansion.
On a similar note, if we beat the Jailer and he turns out to just be a robot piloted by a wannabe gnome villain who leaned too far into the grimdark because he was trying too hard to be taken seriously, my opinion of the Jailer as a character would improve tenfold.
Yes. I am advocating for the writers to turn the Jailer into Scrappy Doo.
It was easy to fix, just add a shield system created by the first ones that couldn’t be destroyed or something to justify why he couldn’t destroy everyone at Haven.
It’s really a competition to see who’s the least stupid. The Jailer just shrugged his shoulders and went “meh” but we apparently didn’t consider the possibility the the Dreadlords would infiltrate our forces until after we got burned by them. You know, the exact same thing that happened in 9.1.

The opening scenario of Zereth Mortis blew me away for this reason.
Zereth Mortis NPCs: Oh no, we’re going to die for sure, we’re way outnumbered and they will wipe us out easily!
The Jailer: (standing within earshot, listening to all of this, seeing the panic on the ground) …you know what, guys, actually I don’t feel like being here anymore. Despite the fact that we’d only be here long enough to wipe the entrails of our enemies off our blades after one more push. Let’s go do other stuff instead.
Zereth Mortis NPCs: Oh PHEW! We were doomed for sure!
The Jailer: (still in hearing distance) Yeah I don’t really know why I wanted to do this in the first place, if I was just going to drop it like a hot potato. Anyhoo, on to the big orb!

You don’t get it… were going to be in the final phase and all be mind controlled by then Anduin is going to pray for the light, break free and wack the Jailer hammer in half and we’re going to finish him off.
He’s not killing us because he’s trying to collect the best of the best for his army
we even have Lady V making devices to see this crap. And DH’s can see this. It was the basis in fact to how we reformed with factions.
We got intel dreadlords will be in SW/Org. Go to these places, find them, kill them.
and thus…began our drafted service to the faction armies.
In hind sight…we should haver let Sylvanas and anduin been “removed”. Sylvanas for obvious reasons. anduin since well…he was jsut what the jailor needed. tough break for him. BUt its like he’d be a basic grunt in his army.
Hold this hill soldier. You may, cough will, cough die. but you will help many more. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the 1 kind of thing.
If they end up just ripping off WOTLK, I am going to be very annoyed.
This expansion has been so bad its shattered my lifelong delusion that warcraft is a cool universe. I now think it’s lame. lol

Blizzard is incapable of writing a villain that doesn’t just monologue to you and call you weak and just sit there and let you dismantle their plans while also somehow letting the incompetent villain stay one step ahead of you
Not seeing the clips if out there…if we get jailor says what arthas did more or less I’d not be surprised.
hahahaha…tyrion you fool. I let your champions win and now you brought them here to serve me. I was just testing them. Yeah, testing, that’s the ticket.
Okay arthas…you fooled us. You sounded kind of ticked off at naxxramas but whatever. Here is your oscar award…I guess…
Hahahaahahahahaha.
The defenders: OmFG!!! We are about to be overrun!
Jailer: Mawsworn, let’s go home, my stories are about to begin.

This is why making villains that are near omnipotent is dumb. They can wipe the player out with ease but clearly they can’t because then you can’t have a game. As a result, they just appear incompetent, which is arguably even worse. You end up with a villain that a player can’t take seriously in any capacity, only helping to drag the story down along with them.
