I don’t mean, like, the Illidari should depose Illidan, but since by the end of Legion he is basically a figurehead wouldn’t it be nice if the “lesser” Illidari leaders (like Kor’vas, Allari, Altruis, Kayn) did show up in Midnight (obviously especially the two sin’dorei ones) even if they keep Illidan for the big event in TLT.
I know Altruis has like a few lines in Bel’ameth and the Amirdrassil Hot Topic where he stays with the Nelf DK, Dark Sentinel and Dark Warden leaders, so I guess a parallel to that in revamp SMC if nothing more (but more could be nice, like what is the point of an Elf expansion if people are not overdosing by the end of it)
Heathstone’s Scourge vs Silvermoon expac introduced a felblood elf demon hunter character whose backstory was he’d rallied the felblood elves/Wretched into a fighting force. I’d love to see that guy (and the Spellbreaker leader OC they created) in WoW proper.
I think it’s almost mandatory. If nothing else, the Blood Elves desperately need some kind of cultural counterweight against all of the light-worship nonsense that they’ve been saddled with since the end of TBC.
I think its a good thing that the Illidari are still considering Illidan as their leader or at least their guide but not have Illidan bossing them around.
Not having Illidan around is a good thing because if he was here then the question of “why isnt he doing anything and let all be done by the players” would be asked, and in the same way having the Illidari holding him as high respect and still saying “illidan know the way” etc is good because it still show that he is important to them and not having a “rejection” of him.
This is actaully what i want as relationship if we get playable nagas with Azshara as their leader/guide.
I have not kept up with the HS lore but he would be a good import into the mainline canon yeah.
Oh yea, both Illidari and more traditionalist farstrider types (the ones who will remind you that the real friends of Quel’thalas are to be found in the wilds of eversong forest) would both be great contrasts to the light stuff in cultural terms - and I suspect a more “lowborne” version of Quel’thalas culture since the Blood Knights are basically Magister-adjacent troops.
And since at least act 1 is probably going to be about defending Quel’thalas it will likely be an all hands on deck time for all children of Eversong so no excuse to make it all about the BKs.
Not really? I’m glad someone brought up that there is an illidari with exactly that kind of backstory in HS since I genuinely have not kept up with HS stuff in a while.
I’d like to see the demons without the Burning Legion’s edicts go wild and splinter into several factions — Resulting into some demons being more volatile, hungry and a few to even become ambitious with warmongering; wanting to conquer and rule (Pitlords, Dreadlords or surviving Shadow Council / Felborne / etc warlocks).
It’d give the Demon Hunters and Warlocks a new directive of –
“Hey the demons of the cosmos and those who abuse the powers of chaos are still a threat, we still hold the powers to oppose them!”
or …
“Hey buddy, as long as you’re not officially part of the Legion per se … Mind if I join in on the fun?”
with some new fun storylines involving demons, chaotic warlocks and the sort.
Let’s be honest. Void Elves were a mistake. Even if they were to end up representing a counter balance to the Light-Worship nonsense that Blood Elves have been enduring since the end of TBC, they’d still be a mistake. Felbloods/Demon Hunters and Warlocks already worked excellently to that end.
Yes but, you cant deny that since the end of Legion, Demon Hunter got barely any lore and were barely even part of the main story since then.
Which is kinda the fate of all such neutral classes/races, just like you barely had ebon blade story after wrath (only legion and sl had and even in sl they are barely getting story progression but its better than nothing)
And likely the Dracthyr, (like the pandaren) will not have much story now that their expac is over.
That’s the inevitable fate of all races and classes introduced as gimmicks. But it’s not that much different for others, I"m not exactly been swimming in Hunter lore since this game came out.
tbh I would rather the Dracthyr get a cool heritage storyline than have them shoehorned harder into the factions
But yeah I assume other than the thing where upgrades now seem to be the province of draconic NPCs (the two upgrade dracthyr and that bronze dragon lady) the main time we are going to see dracthyr show up is as part of dragon retinues.
Hum, i think, its more because the hunter class (as well as many classes in wow) are a bit too large, like, you have many different themes in it which makes it not really have its identity,
I think it depend what you relate to when you think “'hunter”
Warlocks and Demon Hunters working together could even create an actually functional semi-militan elite force against Cosmic Horrors out there in the Void and Twisting Nether. Seeing how DK are basically the Elite force to keep balance between the living and the undead realms and can totally see them very active in the Forsaken society once they rebuilt. Maybe in the future they will be part of the Holy Light Armies… especially now that the story have shown Lightforge becoming Warlock and lets not forget the Eredar who defected and rejoin their own people… such a united front against any threat would send them packing for sure!
Sadly a LOT of purist on Alliance side would be dead set against this union, can’t speak for everyone but I know a few of my Alliance friends would be culbulsing just seeing it! (IMO)
They be like: “We need white and black… good vs evil… not this gray moral mess. We need a clear order to the narrative just like Alliance are shown to be the main protagonist and the Horde are not!”
Me: “Cry about it to your Holy Emperor and go back to your whole in 40K filthy human!”
I still remember fondly of those 2 NPC working together as Warlock and DH, how they argue yet still help each other in Legion.
I know why Demon Assist spells don’t work on DH for obvious reason but always thought it be cool that Warlocks had a Talent that enable them to Link a PC DH as if were a pet where both Players get the benefit of such a temporary contract like using Warlock Health Funnel to heal or maybe something crazy like Letting DH stay in Demon form indefinitely or until warlock ends contract… or even use tome of sacrifice to gain a back tour meta as a short cooldown! Or better yet, DH have the Talent where they eat the Warlock Pet Demon and temporally gain the benefits of such a link and if the Warlock is friendly he can even heal you and buff you with this spells! If not friendly I can see enemy Warlocks using Sacrifice Tome or Banish spell on the DH!! LOL!! That be entertaining to see in PvP specially!
Oh the possibilities, but I can see how this in PvP could be a problem… teams of Warlocks and DH both benefiting from that talent! Such chaos would be delightful!!!
On the RPG side I also always wanted as DH and Warlock to explore if there is a Difference between a Corrupted being turn Demon and a pure breed, created or born Demon… I know in Chaos might make right when it comes to dominate or command other demons but would love to explore and learn more of those “Fable Ancient Demons” even Sargeras dare not to disturb or recruit for since their very presence warp and could destroy reality if brought out the Twisting Nether.
TL;DR: I think the story as a whole would benefit if the story organically would join these 2 groups in a cool narrative way. Great IDEA! And maybe in the future take that union into gameplay!
