You have really gone in depth and thought about this.
I know that people who assume the average player plays the game the same way they do are clueless.
Ouch. Khorium bars were about 3g when I leveled mine, whereas Adamantite was 5-6g each.
thats 1K gold weekly from farming if you have two gathering profs. not quests.
maybe on an empty, dead server…
I’m a potion master and I use my xmute every day, I pull in 1k a week just from selling a CSD or Earthstorm diamond everyday. That’s without any potion sales.
I think people who don’t make gold are just generally clueless.
that depends on the prices on your server though…
On mine for example, you cannot make money from crafting potions. The mats you need are more expensive than for what the pots, elixirs or flasks sell. And since most of them are overfarmed, you cannot gather them realistically.
A transmute will give you about 20 to 30 gold above material value here, that’s about 150g a week max… so no, you won’t get rich from crafting here…
Idk I’m on Botmane.
It would be nice to have a third the number of major agility elixirs that I do healing power or adept’s elixirs. Instead I just resort to using elixir of the mongoose all the time, since both materials for it actually exist on my realm.
nothin wrong with mongoose pots. they’re like 90% as good
Didn’t say there was anything wrong with them. Just silly that I have to use them because ingredients for the current expansion elixirs don’t exist.
TBH I don’t know what you’re going through BUT on my server, which is a medium population, the herb gathering can be pretty rough. I can only imagine how bad it is on a high population server. Why the hell is Mana Thistle limited to 2 max per node?! That pisses me off!
Good look with the farm.
If only they were warned about this months before TBC launched!
I was able to go out at 6pm on my server yesterday of one layer with 6500 people. In one hour as herb/engi I got 8 primal shadows, a primal life, 8 mana thistle, 24 terocone, 17 nightmare vine, and 31 dreaming glory. Things are competitive still at times (I just don’t bother) but sometimes not so much. Too bad it hasn’t calmed down like this for others.
When I’ve found it ‘not competitive’ I get 1 terocone per minute. 24 in an hour is far below what we had ‘back in the day’ with smaller servers.
They need to activate hyperspawning for nodes, like they do for some mobs, so there’s always a handful of them up.
most people farming terocones are the ones that are there 24/7 selling gold too
That’s because Terocone is up around the 2.5g to 3g mark compared to the 80s for Felweed or Dreaming Glory.
100% it’s a supply issue, so the solution that both eases the tension, lowers the price and discourages the bots, is to increase supply consumate with the population of the server.
If terocone is easy to farm for anyone, no-one pays ridiculous prices to bot farmers.
I suspect they still do, because so many people would rather spend real money than spend some time farming. Could be wrong though.
damn dude count yourself lucky. on my server terocones are approaching 5g each
I was able to go out at 11:00 a.m. yesterday and in one hour get all my shopping done, visit my mom, paint a fresco, save a drowning puppy, take a blacksmithing class and have lunch with the king of an obscure country.
Not an issues on Deviate Delight, we have no bots and everyone is able to farm what ever they need with no issues other then some world pvp at times over some spots with some people
when I say no bots I mean I’ve seen 0 since TBC hit. Maybe we have a Game Master on our server >.>
Literally been playing since day 1 of TBC release and I have gathered a grand total of 6 mana thistle. I gave up even caring about it. I just act as though I’ll never create or use anything requiring it.
Terocone is idiotic due to it only really existing in a farmable form in half of one zone and everyone needing it for elixirs. I spent ~3 hours farming netherweb spider silk in Terokkar and saw two terocone patches that entire time.
