A lot of people believe a time skip is due after Shadowlands. This makes sense, and I have some ideas on how the horde could change after it. Most of these ideas can be given to alliance too but I don’t play alliance so I don’t a lot of ideas for them.
The main idea is to make allied races fit in with the other races. I think some of them already do, but for the ones that don’t, I’d want all races to start at level 1 and make them unlocked for everyone. make the original unlocking a feat of strength and keep the heritage armor achievements in. I think changes to the starting zones to fit both a race and an allied race should be done. Here are my ideas.
Orcs / Mag’har Orcs / Vulpera Have these three races start in Durotar. Both orcs start in the normal orc starting location while vulpera start somehwere else. I think it would be cool if orcs got a quest to duel a player, not part of a questline since you’re not always going to have a player nearby, but by itself to give some new players a taste of PvP. For vulpera, I think a caravan quest could be cool.
Trolls / Zandalari Trolls I think Zandalari trolls should start in Zandalar since their Loa is there, and they should be able to use that racial as soon as possible since it’s one of the coolest racials in the game. Alternatively, putting their Loa around the Echo Isles would allow both trolls to start there.
Tauren / HM Tauren Both tauren should start in Mulgore.
Blood Elves / Nightborne Both elves should start on Sunstrider Isle. You know that quest where blood elves have to use their racial on a mana wyrm? Give that to nightborne too, except they have to “charge” a depleted mana wyrm with arcane pulse.
Forsaken Undead are a mess, I love Tirisfal Glades as it was the first zone I ever leveled in, but it hardly fits now that Undercity is destroyed. I’m pretty sure in modern Tirisfal there’s just a huge line of fire going through the middle of the zone, I know until you’re level 50 you have the old zone, but we want something that fits with the modern story. Just give the undead both Plaguelands, make Stratholme the capital and make scholomance a questing area.
A lot of the problems people have with the Horde is that we’re too weak compared to the Alliance. This is true, but I don’t see why it has to be. Think about the races we have. We have the strongest warriors (both orcs and both tauren) the strongest mages (blood elves and nightborne) the strongest rogues (vulpera) The strongest shaman (nearly every Horde race) and for other classes we likely have strong contenders too. The alliance has the strongest paladins, strongest druids, possibly warlocks and shadow priests due to void elves, and decent mages. I don’t see why we should be portrayed as weak, the two factions are practically equal at this point. I know it’s more based on lore characters where we are incredibly outmatched, but depending on how big the time skip is, we may have new faction leaders coming out of Shadowlands. After the mess of BfA, some races have a lot of rebuilding ahead of them. Night elves reclaiming land could spark some issues with orcs again, and undead may want more of the Eastern Kingdoms. I’ve had some ideas on how allied races could work into map changes. I think nightborne territory should be established in Eversong Woods or Ghostlands. I think dark iron dwarves should be in Searing Gorge and Burning Steppes with vulpera in Badlands and the Barrens. HM tauren could set up in Alterac or in Stonetalon Mountains. These races show a lot of potential for smaller faction conflict seen in vanilla, I hope at least some of it is used.
