Everyone hates the honor grind; sure. BUT this is literally insane.
If you play horde you do not get any bonuses on honor other than the spoils of war. However, on alliance you get not only the 40% spoils of war but also a 50% bonus on Honorable kills AND victories.
So I decided to put it to the test. I played 15 BGs on my alliance character and 15 on my horde… results are shocking.
Alliance:
- Lose | 837 Honor
- Win | 1842 Honor | first win of the day
- Win | 1426 Honor
- Lose | 701 Honor
- Lose | 721 Honor
- Lose | 632 Honor
- Win | 1428 Honor
- Win | 1692 Honor
- Lose | 962 Honor
- Lose | 681 Honor
- Win | 1328 Honor
- Win | 1258 Honor
- Lose | 761 Honor
- Lose | 712 Honor
- Win | 1412 Honor
Alliance Total: 16393
Horde:
- Lose | 391 Honor
- Win | 1041 Honor | First Win of the day
- Win| 954 Honor
- Lose| 429 Honor
- Lose | 469 Honor
- Win | 915 Honor
- Win | 876 Honor
- Win | 793 Honor
- Lose | 463 Honor
- Lose | 419 Honor
- Win | 846 Honor
- Win | 926 Honor
- Lose | 627 Honor
- Lose | 612 Honor
- Win | 841 Honor
Horde total: 10602
A ~6k honor gain difference is crazy considering that horde wins are as much as alliance loses if you just end up getting HKs instead of playing the game.
The results are pretty telling when you need 150k honor to get 9/9 gear and in just ~130 wins compared to Horde’s ~225. Its almost more worth it to go Alliance then swap BACK to horde for pushing due to the superior racials…
