it is called a retcon. Blizzard does it all the time.
And what would they retcon?
well according to the leak that would all as planned.
Well the leak seems super fake now since 8.2.5 is supposedly the conclusion of the war with a datamined title for being a Veteran of the Fourth War.
numbers. Retcon high elves being a remnant of a remnant. that line is already outdated from pre BC.
Besides there is a case to be made that when taking into account 10% of the survivors remaining high elves that was only in consideration of the kingdom of quelâthelas and did not take into consideration all the high elves that were not part of quelâthelas.
8.2.5 actually supports the leak. People are misunderstanding the leak if they think it disproves it. The leak has the horde and alliance work together to retake stormwind from sylvanas until the very end stuff happens and the alliance declares war on the horde again which kills everyone.
Gotta admit, the more I read about Half Elves the more I like them. I know the Warcraft RPG isnât considered canon, but Blizz still occasionally picks stuff out of it to use, right?
Some people were trying to not look at the leak. Thanks.
Which means they would have to retcon the number of blood elves too, making it higher as well . I doubt Blizzard is going to open that can of worms and do pooulation counts for every race.
Honestly Blizz should avoid retcons whenever possible. That stuff gets messy
I donât believe the WoW writers take their story as seriously as some of the players do.
Isnât that the truth
how so? I just said in the same comment that it can be done by make it crystal clear that it never took into account the high elves living outside of quelâthelas when that statement was made.
The only âenemyâ present then was the Scourge. You are making stuff up because youâre acting as if the Horde was in the picture when they hid behind humans to not help their own people when the Horde that welcomed them in didnât even exist then.
Itâs truly adorable how you think you can justify cowardice under the guise of âloyaltyâ, and also how you want to claim they are loyal when they canât be loyal to their own family.
Also, itâs nice that you think your opinion matters either, heh.
To be fair, the latest retcon happened because since they only write the story as it goes, sometimes they need to tie the loose ends⊠but then they go and ignore their past lore because reasons.
If itâs any consolation itâs fake af.
10% of the survivors WERENâT remaining High Elves. The lore states of the 10% that survived, only 1% didnât answer the call of their people.
âRemnant of a remnantâ isnât outdated when it defines WHO they are.
And if you read the info, it DOES take into account the High Elves that werenât in Quelâthalas at the time.
You either donât know the lore or you donât care about the lore. If itâs the latter, thatâs what Iâm arguing against. Guess if you want a pretty model that mogs well bad enough, youâll come up with all sorts of ideas steeped in a lack of knowledge.
This is a âHigh Elf Loveâ thread. What is it you all love about them?
- Their story? They donât have one after the Sourge.
- Their culture? They donât have one.
- Their capital city and racial leader? Nope. Neither of those have they.
- Their impact on the game and itâs story? You can hear the crickets chirping on that one.
What you love about them is they are a pretty elf that mogs well. Lore doesnât matter, their role in the game doesnât matter ⊠itâs all about the model and youâre likely not going to get a carbon copy Horde race added to the alternate faction ⊠especially when said race doesnât exist in population numbers enough to explain why all of a sudden every other Alliance player is a pretty elf that mogs well.
Personally if it were just about pretty mogs Iâd be quite happy with Void Elves. Iâd just like to play as a Quelâdorei Alliance loyalist
Based on the lore, all high elves were part of quelâthalas.
I suggested this earlier and wellâŠthe helfers disliked it mostly.
Half Elves seem to be a split topic in the Helf community. I wouldnât mind them being the continuation of the Alliance Quelâdorei, though
Thatâs the thing, youâre one of the few rational ones. The rest however, see any possible option the Alliance could have that is not High elves as a threat to what they want and thus, it should be undermined at all costs.
But imo, theyâre not only more interesting with the whole aspect of âmixed raceâ and can have a story of their own with a fresh start with pratically no links to blood elves (if any at all) and possibly the Sunwell, but also it makes sense for them to look different, they donât have to even expand on it since well, the name itself explains it.
