What is this place? There are piles of dragon bones everywhere. It looks like a mass graveyard. What happened here? I can’t seem to find any quests in game that deal with the area. It’s even haunted. As you walk around the souls of dead dragons appear and disappear.
An Ossuary is a crematorium of sorts… it’s a graveyard. Oss(bone)uary. An Ossuary IS in fact a form of mass grave where multiple bones of people and animals are stored.
Yeah i know but why does it have buildings that look like they were once lived in? With tables and stuff? Since it’s haunted it kinda seems like all those dragons died in that place. What happened there is what I wanna know. Apparently it happened pre sundering too.
Perhaps its where all the dead dragons from the conflict between the incarnates and the aspects were buried?
That’s one of my thoughts because it happened while Tyr was alive. Or at least the place existed in its current state while he was alive.
And if that’s true, Alexstraza wasn’t kidding when she talked about what a terrible war it was. Those dragons aren’t even buried. Their bones are in piles. Huge piles.
That’s sort of the nature of an Ossuary, even ones that bury the bodies and let them decay naturally dig the bones back up once the flesh is gone and store them in a room or container.
Obviously the dragons there died by trauma, if the ghosts are any indicator, but the bones not being buried doesn’t mean the dragons died there, all ossuaries dig up the bones or cremate the corpse then store the bones.
Ah. Are ossuaires the traditional burial method for dragons? I don’t recall seeing one anywhere else
Could’ve been an area for a planned WQ or something, but I thought there was a minor introduction quest that we had to fly out to meet the group of drakenoids or am I thinking of something else.
Dragonblight in Northrend has several massive graveyards of dragon skeletons, some of them really honkin’ big.
True and before the sundering that area was part of “dragon lands”. They didn’t become isles until the sundering
