Quest totally unbalanced after BFA launch. The mobs are too strong to solo, they swarm around. People say to AFK under the tent and after 45 it completes itself. I don’t think a quest in a starting area should be that difficult or/and you need to bug it to complete. Another unbalanced thing in game.
Agreed, came back to the game after an 8 year break. I don’t know how long I’ve spent on this quest, but I can’t solo it.
Having recently (post-BFA launch) completed this on both a Mage and a Rogue, I can’t really see the imbalance.
Unless heirlooms make such a massive world of difference, I feel as though you’re ignoring the 3-spawn of Saurok that go straight for the healers. They do spawn incredibly fast, but even solo most classes should be able to take them down one at a time.
The method I found that worked was simply running around and freeing as many healers as possible first, then staying by Ji and protecting them from the intermittent spawns.
The Saurok mobs will generally ignore you for the Alliance and Horde soldiers otherwise.
Spent around 10 minutes trying to finish this until a second player showed up, which significantly sped things up. Freeing healers rarely led to them helping heal, for whatever reason and the healers near Shen-zin Su were constantly overwhelmed. I would fight the mobs to try to keep them off, but this was a slow battle with only single target abilities.
Definitely imbalanced compared to in the past.
OMG, was having same problem. i logged out for an hour, came back and found a group fo 6-8 players and just inserted myself in the midst of them. i have no idea how we got to 12 out of 12 except we just kept killing adds…
Just rescue 1 or 2 healers and keep them alive.
Definitely doesn’t work properly. I was at it (solo) for about 40 minutes and managed to keep 10/12 healers alive and casting by the wound, but the quest never ended. The 2 last faraway healers were SO impossible to free up WHILE keeping the 10 alive by the wound.
This quest needs to be addressed and fixed. Pretty frustrating – especially since it’s part of the main series.
It’s now May 2020 and nothing has been done to fix this issue. Activision/Blizzard shows me once again they don’t care and don’t listen to its fanbase
Agreed. I just rejoined the game after years, created a Pandaren for fun, and ran into this. I leveled twice, hit the 20 cap on a free account, farmed nearly 2 gold (which isn’t much unless you’re still in the starter area) and still can’t finish it. There’s two named AI’s there that could help, but most of the time they stand around. You free one priest and they are immedietly attacked before they can even get to the wound, and if you do manage to get a couple to the wound, THEY will be killed before you can get more. So I concentrated on the ones trapped, thinking maybe they could run for it and I could defend a group of them by the wound, but they usually just stand around and don’t move.
So this tells me what I need to know. If after years this persistent problem isn’t fixed, and is RIGHT at the beginning of the game, they clearly don’t care about returning players, or n00bs. It also tells me I don’t need to spend money on the game.

I suspect this is actually part of the problem. The priests you have to protect are level locked at 12? 14? but the Saurok level up with you. So if you get to 20 then they are going to be crushing the priests much faster than intended, and also getting harder for you to kill because your gear isn’t getting better.
We were originally intended to be finishing the Wandering Isle at level 12 ish. But the exp “bonus” blows that way out. Combining that with the ill-advised scaling feature and we get stuff like this.
I agree. This quest is what I like to call “total bull shirt.”
There is one Horde Druid close to the injury that keeps glitching underground or otherwsie not oding any fihgting and you can’t send her to help heal so the quest is impossible to complete, I’ve had 11 healers helping the wound for the 45 minutes I’ve been trying to complete the quest.
