I’ve played every class and spec over the years and wonder why the hardest classes and or specs don’t have the largest reward. Not talking head and shoulders better but just something a little noticeable.
Tank: Brew master is easily the hardest tank spec but it doesn’t really stand out nor is the best tank.
DPS: Aff lock that can keep perfect dots up on M+ fights not being top dps.
Healer: Pes evoker, short range + skill shot spells (now not the best healer)
(Place other harder class specs here etc etc etc)
My dog in the fight for the clarity is I play a Prot/Arms warrior.

What you are describing are tuning issues. If Blizzard can’t be bothered to fix these, what makes you think they will exert effort to reward them?

tuning god giveth and he taketh away
top dps is outlaw rogue that pushes two buttons and hit procs. Lmao sixshooter goes bang

SL s3 where the entire optimal comp had 10 buttons between them (generous estimate)
Nope , feral druid is probably the hardest class to play in the game
Bleed management
Energy management
Combos
Buff management
It should be the best, is it ?? naaaaaah

The AoE M+ build is probably one of the easiest at the moment.
Single target and raid builds can get complicated when you bring in blood talons, and other additional CD’s.
I think it’s because they devs don’t actually play many of the specs and classes

Tuning is Blizzard throwing some spaghetti at the wall and seeing what sticks, then fixing it up a bit at a time afterwards.
It’s never been their strong point.
But as far as work input from the player and dps output of the class they are not intended to be a reflection of each other.
What you get is the ‘satisfaction’ of playing the class you want, even when it’s not meta. If that’s not what you’re after then you might wnt to jump ship to whatever is meta.
Some are pretty clear winners most every expansion, and some tend to be bottom of the barrel pretty frequently.
I can’t, for example, remember any time when DH wasn’t wanted.

Yea so you’d think this would be the case because it logically follows. Harder to play = more rewarding/more output. In reality it just means you have to work harder, sometimes exceedingly so for the same results as the BM hunter slamming their face into the keyboard.
Don’t think this is going anywhere and if ease of play is desired for you I would stick to warrior.
After 20 years of this game yall still don’t understand basic gaming mechanics/how it’s executed.
At no point in time will Blizzard make every class/spec tier 0, regardless of the skill required to play them. It just won’t happen. Ever.
There will always be <this class/spec is AMAZING rn>, <this class/spec is okay rn>, <this class/spec is pure garbage rn>.
You can argue it’s bs. And as a lock main that has been nerfed nearly every patch since the game dropped, I’d agree with you. However, the fact is, good players will always find a way to maximize the output of their character. Dedicated players play FOTM.
It’s cool if you’re going to stick with the same class/spec, but don’t cry when it’s your turn to be tier F. We all go through it. At that point, you either figure out how to break the class/spec, reroll, or accept the fact your name was pulled.
What is “hardest” is largely subjective and fluctuates over time.
I personally don’t find any class particularly hard, but some are more simplified than others.

We don’t know for sure, but it really seems like it. It feels like they throw someone on a class that normally doesn’t play it to tune its numbers. It also seems they just go by a spreadsheet rather than practical in game application.
Sounds like a good idea.
Casters who have to stand still to cast should also get a noticeable DPS boost compared to my BM hunter who can flip and flop all over the place while firing and sicking my pet on everything in sight
aff is a forgotten spec just pretend it doesnt exist. also m+ favors front loaded burst over dot playstyle.
also tbh lately none of the tanks really stand out, they’re all pretty good.
Last expansion, Shadow was a nightmare to play. Now all of the classes feels like they have little to no flow. Feels like whack a mole. We used to have fillers, now we have every 6 GCD’s press your filler.
Not even sure what class difficulty is anymore. The good players are pretty darn good. They can make any class shine. They’ll gravitate towards whatever’s the best and make it work.
Players do the same crap in fighting games. Pick the best even if it’s the hardest (Or the easiest). That’s just gaming 101 these days.
current shadow is way better than sl shadow
if you wanna play a class with good flow play ww monk. its smooth like butter. ton of buttons and proc management tho.
