The Guild Finder is even more useless now

I didn’t see a topic on this while scrolling through the recent posts so I figured I’d make one. I probably wouldn’t have even noticed the changes to this feature if I wasn’t playing MoP Remix as much as I have been.

I made a Horde monk for Remix and I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the experience. However, my now level 70 Horde monk is guildless. As a predominantly Alliance player, I have been an officer in the same close-knit Alliance guild for over a decade, so I’ve barely had to use the guild finder in my WoW playing experience. However, I figured I’d change it up a little bit and broaden my WoW network.

Before the patch, I browsed the guild finder and made a list of possible guilds I was interested in on my small Horde server of Whisperwind-Dentarg. The guild finder worked exactly how I imagined it would - a bunch of guilds on my connected realm were recruiting using the tool.

However, with the newest patch, it seems like every single guild recruiting in the North American/Oceanic region are using the tool and jumbled together all in one pot. There is no way for me to specifically look for a guild on my realm anymore. There is the search function; however, it only works if the guild recruiter types out the realm name in the description itself. I’m thankful there are realm names listed with the guilds, but it sucks that half of them are Area 52 and quite a few are Oceanic guilds as well.

Is there a way to at least add a filter for our own (connected) realm? If I wanted to find a guild on Area 52, I would have rolled a character on Area 52. I want to at least be in a guild with people I can interact with in general and trade chats, as well as see in the city hubs.

I can’t even imagine how difficult it is to recruit using the new system. If you’re a 100 total member guild (including alts) on a small server, who really is going to apply to your guild, especially if it takes 30 seconds to scroll to it in the guild finder? I tried scrolling to the end of the guild finder but it seems the end doesn’t exist.

TL;DR: Guild finder has been changed for the worse - it’s cross-realm, every realm in NA now. Thousands of guilds show up now and there’s no way to narrow it down except for language and size. Please add a way to filter guilds by realm.

tbh any guild that cannot even make the effort to specify their server in the description when, as you said that’s somewhat important, rank up there with “guilds that run macros to invite anyone not in a guild” for me. I would not expect them to be guilds worth joining.

lol no one who wants to be successful recruits out of guild finder. at least not as a primary source of recruits.

Whaaa? You havenʻt gotten an invite from “The Old Gods” yet?
I get spam invited on every alt.
Its nice but usually just fills the chat box with guild stuff.

That’s probably true. However, Blizzard wants it to be a useful tool (otherwise they wouldn’t keep updating it), and I’m sure it could be useful for more casual play. Raiding and M+ are obviously a different beast.
