The great Scourge invasion of 2008

Who else was there? I remember it being fun at max level. Unfortunately the game was growing quickly at the time, and to millions who hadn’t reached level 70, it was a nightmare.

Let it suffice I have a very very different memory. Developer sanctioned griefing is not ok.

Yeah, it was fun the first day but then you realize it’s a chain of people logging in the second day and it’s their first day so they are just having fun and are like GOTCHA! “Yep, you did haha” then the third day comes and it’s someones first day and so they come out and kill you and are like GOTCHA!..“yep, yep haven’t had that happen before, fun stuff eh?”. It gets old after awhile and you just want to level

This is the perfect description after the first hour or two.

I do remember player response was so overwhelming negative they promised to never do something like that again (which they of course broke).

Yeah I remember it from the perspective of the leveler. Trying to quest and getting griefed by zombies ruining everyone’s time. I wasn’t interested in participating.

We were all given three days free game time. Had there been some reasonable limits put on it, it could have been a big success.

It was a very fun event.

was so fun and at the time no one know what the heck was going on

I don’t remember it at all. Possibly because I wasn’t on when it was happening. I remember being in Austin for a wedding and one night I stopped at a Best Buy and bought the expansion. Went back to my hotel, loaded up the expansion and had fun time playing.

I remember getting the set pieces and vendoring them because I didn’t like hoarding :frowning:

I remember it and remember having a blast. I moved all my guys to the capitols to be infected and the. Spend days running around like a crazy person biting people.

Fond memories.

Spagooter remembers

I was leveling and at max level. I loved it. Getting slaughtered by ghouls was scary, exciting and freaking awesome to experience.

No I wasn’t but I could vividly remember all the hate and discontent over a PVP event for shadowlands pre-launch.

I really wanted it to be like an all-encompassing Dawn of the Dead craziness but instead it felt flat

I was just starting the game at the time. It was a griefer’s paradise, and new players like me were the prime targets. Many of us quit.

Loved it and hated it
I hated getting changed into a zombie while questing but I remember good aoe farming faxmobkey was doing as I was seriously thinking of maining a mage got me more interested watching him aoe grind 30+ mobs in 1 pull :eyes: considering you didn’t have a big health pool like today one screwup meant death

Rip fax monkey you are missed

One of my troops single handedly (but accidentally) infecting Grom’gol within minutes of logging in. Fun times.

I missed it. But caught the one in Shadowlands prepatch. I had a lot of fun. I’d love it as an optional mode in the game permanently.

I’ll be honest this was one of those rare moments where I enjoyed it so much I could care less that other people were having a bad time

i had just gotten my first healer sorted when that came out, so I was one of the small amount trying to cleanse as much as possible
