The graphics requirements increased in TWW

Does anyone realize their 3070 seems weaker in TWW?

The fps is lower compared to in DF

Got a 4090 that’s still doing fine.

yep, 4090 is unaffected. but the 3070 is.

Game runs about the same on my potato. I just play on the default settings though.

I’m still using a GTX GPU (in other words, a potato) and I’ve noticed a performance dip as well. Part of it’s likely due to age, but I do expect the game to get incrementally more demanding with each expansion.

thanks for the replies.

There is absolutely no way a 3070 in this game that can run on a toaster is struggling. There’s something else going on there or some weird bugs on Blizzards end.

i think its my cpu. 12400f intel. however, my mobo supports 13th gen intel cpus. So maybe i will get a 13700.

Running is not the same as being playable.
This meme must die.

WoW’s always been a more cpu bound game so you’re probably on the money for it being a cpu issue, but also TWW is a bit less stable than prior releases (Imo anyways) and that could be causing some issues for you too.

Yeah there could be a big bottleneck perhaps going on.

From my simple google search the 12400f is too weak a CPU for the 3070 and there is about a 33% bottleneck. Not sure how accurate but that likely is not too far off. Nowadays you want 8 power cores at least for gaming specifically to be able to play most everything today.

ngl, TWW has been running better for me than DF ever did lol

There are so many variables that go into graphics. There is a video by Quazii WoW on youtube that shows how you can tweak your graphics for max frame rate and looks. And at first I was skeptical, but it works. I went from 60FPS to over 150 in most content.

cheers, thanks for that tip. i will look into it

You need to provide a LOT more info, OP.

What are your current graphics settings? How many addons are you running? What base FPS are you after?

I play on a 12600k and 3060 Ti, and at 1440p native I can run most settings at High with CMAA2 and sliders at 5 distance, 7 objects, and 10 clutter. No RT of course. Outside of Dornogal I’m usually like 90 fps or so in TWW zones and much higher in older content areas.

Could probably get a lot more FPS by lowering many settings but without ground clutter the game looks terrible.

Same for me— until yesterday. Don’t know what maintenance did, but it screwed something up for me. Game freezes up for half a second every ten seconds now. Never had this issue ever.

A 6700 XT can basically max the game on 1440p, sans high ray tracing or super sampling.

It’s the CPU burden that everyone struggles with. Even me on a 7800X3D.

I don’t have a top of the line CPU OR GPU but mine are still solid (i9-13900K processor Geforce 4070 TI card, 32g RAM). I’ve noticed that War Within does seem less stable. Get frame rate dips in cities that I didn’t use to get. Also weird screen tearing as of just yesterday? Eh…

this is a cpu intensive game. gpu doesnt matter too much

RTX 3060 here.
Runs just fine.
