The Grand Return of the Argent Dawn Tabard!

With patch 10.1.5 taking us back to Naxxramas to collect ancient recipes, armor sets, and more that had long been removed from the game, many players were hopeful that Blizzard would use this opportunity to reintroduce the Argent Dawn Tabard.

Once again, during the WoW 20th anniversary, people continue to express their support and desire to see the tabard return.

Even though these two events were great opportunities to bring this tabard back, we remain hopeful as we look forward to the future.

The return of the Argent Dawn Tabard is not just a matter of nostalgia; it is a significant opportunity to enrich the game’s lore and player experience.

Points to Consider:

  • The community has shown overwhelming support for the return of the Argent Dawn Tabard. This is not just a fleeting request but a sustained desire from a significant portion of the player base. Listening to the community and responding to their wishes can enhance player satisfaction and engagement.

  • The Argent Dawn faction still exists within the game’s lore. Not everyone has merged with the Argent Crusade, as evidenced by characters like Dispatch Commander Metz at Light’s Hope Chapel, who still proudly wears the Argent Dawn tabard. This shows that the faction remains active and relevant, making the return of the tabard a logical and lore-friendly addition.

  • There is a precedent for reintroducing items with slight modifications to preserve the integrity of original achievements. For example, the Might of Menethil was reintroduced as Strength of Menethil. Similarly, the Argent Dawn Tabard could be brought back under a different name, such as “Tabard of the Dawn,” to respect the original Feat of Strength achievement while still allowing new players to enjoy this iconic item.

  • With the return and the reintroduction of ancient recipes, armor sets, and other items from OG Naxxramas, it is still the perfect time to bring back the Argent Dawn Tabard. Players are once again purging the Scourge and collecting Scourgestones, making the tabard a fitting reward for their efforts.

Bringing back the Argent Dawn Tabard, whether under its original name or a new one, would be a meaningful addition to the game.

It’s a win-win for both the game and its players, and the community will continue to make it’s requests known!

Lore-wise, the Argent Dawn no longer exists but the old tabard is still used by a subsection of the old AD called “The Brotherhood of the Light”.

If Blizzard brings back the tabard as the “Tabard of the Brotherhood”, I hope they also introduce the Crimson Legion’s tabard because we know the old Scarlet Crusade is, unfathomably, still around.

I would absolutely get behind this!

This is a fantastic idea and an even better sounding tabard name.

Oh baby, give me that Necrotic gown!

I don’t think I ever got that tabard but I still have the old trinket (?) or item that gave you Argent Dawn rep. I liked how that worked. RIP.

You can get it right now. They brought it back.

I never got the chance to snag it. I also thought the way that system worked was cool. It’s a shame it’s gone.

They took out the Corrupted Ashbringer from Old Naxx.

They love defending their FOMO.

lmao.

From what I understand, Corrupted Ashbringer is one of the items they specifically won’t bring back. I thought I heard somewhere that Blizzard expressed some regret about the Corrupted Ashbringer and wished they had never put it in the game.

How’s that? I thought it was taken out of the game.

I assume you are referring to this:

If so, they brought it back with the same model in patch 10.1.5 which you can obtain through a recipe.

I have the tabard, the look-alike version from TBC launch.

‘Tabard of the Protector’ (wearing it rn)

I’m wondering if mage-tower weapons are also gonna be requested down the line, or if they’ll be re-added for Legion Remix when we get there.

So many items in this game that are unobtainable, were part of an ‘event’ or something similar.

That’s Blizzard’s stance on a lot of old stuff.

Yeah, that tabard is definitely one of the best in the game. Simple, neutral, and iconic.

Certain items described as limited-edition upon release might not be brought back, though I wouldn’t put it past Blizzard at this point. They’ve already broken that rule with the Trading Post and other avenues.

Specifically with the Tabard of the Dawn, I see no reason why it can’t be brought back. If it gets enough attention, I suspect they will!

The regret expressed: It was a mistake giving out such a powerful lore item to the players.

Then Legion happened, and it completely trampled on that statement. With even more powerful weapons.

But hey, holding up terrible ideology.

lmao.

I see.

Then I suppose anything is possible at this point!

Indeed.

Back on topic, the tabard was a pre release item?

Those have been brought back before, the necklace for Shadowlands for example.

Curious as to why it hasn’t. Would be fine on the trading post.

lmao.

It would be totally lame to get it from the trade post, but it would be cool regardless lol

Maybe the Argent Crusade and Brotherhood will make a reappearance in Midnight. That’d be the perfect time to reintroduce the tabard(s). Upscaled ones without the missing waistband would be even better.

Also, if the Arathi Emperor is a Light zealot and attracts the Scarlet Onslaught remnants to his cause, maybe we can get an upscaled Crimson Legion tabard that way, too.

I forgot about that.

As much as I long for the original tabard’s appearance, I think this is an interesting approach as well.

^ now that is something I can get behind

I always wanted the scarlet onslaught tabard, or the fancier scarlet crusade tabard some of the I believe strat mobs wear as well as the high ranking scarlet members. Honestly just more argent/scarlet tabards would be neat or tabards for the other human kingdoms, stick 'em on the vanilla TW vendor or something idk.
