Since Forbidden Reach was added and now in 10.1 with Zaralek Caverns; the Maruuk Centaur Grand Hunts have been largely abandoned making getting the 2 Companion Pets; and the Mount for those that don’t have it, a grind in of itself.
No one wants to do this event anymore even with the additional of Shadowflame crests to the final bags. Ontop of this the two pets Bakar Companion and Ohuna Companion have abysmal drop rates and aren’t even tradeable. People who did get multiples could do nothing with them while those of us without these pets and mount are having difficulty getting the Hunts done across all our alts to try to get in as many chances as we can in a week.
What can be done to incentive doing the Grand Hunts again other than the random Aiding the Accord Weekly? And could we please change the pets to be cageable?

I was surprised when I found out the Grand Hunts didn’t follow the game’s progression into the new zones. Of all the special events they added that’s the one that felt like it could “keep going” instead of dying after one patch like the Black Dragon Raid and Soup. Heck, the quests leading into the underground even involve the Centaur. Just feels like a missed chance at something good.

The grand hunts aren’t hard. They can almost be solo’d. I did solo one the other day with the exception of one boss that one other person came for. Then they just followed me around while I finished the rest of the objectives. Making the pets tradeable would provide some incentive to do more of them, seems they are largely abandoned unless it’s the weekly. And I agree with Dorf. . .why didn’t they continue the Grand Hunt into the Forbidden Reach and Zarelek Cavern? That would definitely keep people doing it.
As sub level 70 they are most certainly hard. Especially for non tanks/people who don’t have a tank pet/spec. I attempted on my sub 70 mage with one of the boss tasks and died. If you get the boss task then you likely cannot finish solo for those below level 70.
This is the thing I’m talking about when the hunts become difficult is when you try to bring your sub 70’s to try to farm the mount/pets. On my server you have to be there at the right time to see people doing a hunt or else it’s not happening.
I also agree that hunts should have continued to new zones, it makes no sense why they weren’t.

Ah, well yes, I do agree with that. For sub 70 characters, it’s impossible. I can do it on my geared warlock and hunter, but
not really anyone else. It seems there is a lot of content like that, it falls by the wayside early in an xpac, with not many ways to get it done unless you get a group. Which can be hard sometimes. There is more solo players than ever in WoW, it would be nice to have more soloable tasks with decent rewards.

I agree that if things aren’t going to be continued as the expac progresses on then a way to make them doable solo needs to be created or at least amend the content to where it can be done solo by the level group that the content is meant for. In this case from 60-70.
That is the nice thing about the community feast, you can be the only person there and still easily complete the weekly requirement. The hunts are soloable but take a decent amount of time to do so. Dragonsbane Keep still has a decent participation I’ve found since there’s a low chance toy from the weekly lockout reward.

Another thread of similar forgotten content aka the Siege of Dragonbane Keep and its drop that is difficult to get.
Everlasting Horn of Lavaswimming
This is similar in fashion to Grand Hunts and content that was released with the start of the expansion already being forgotten about unless its the weekly for Aiding the Accord.
More needs to be done to make this content more appealing for people to want to do it atleast more than once a week.

This is sadly the way the game has functioned for years, the Ghost Town methodology. Sadly, it either takes multiple expansions later for you to be able to quickly farm/do the objectives yourself since nobody else does them or for Blizzard to finally implement a “workaround” to make the event/objective easier for a solo player. 9.9 times out of 10, it takes the “Expansions later” method in order to do certain things.
heck, they’re just now putting in a skip to the Siege of Orgrimmar and that came out 10 years ago.
Sadly for the world events, like all of the ones they slam packed into this expansion, I knew from day one if you didn’t farm them like crazy you’d be left waiting YEARS to be able to farm them. I guess we can be glad they just didn’t straight remove them, as they’ve also done that in the past to certain events in the world.
One can hope that, maybe, just maybe they’ll see the error in the ungodly amounts of world events they slam packed into this expansion and fix the fact that a very limited crowd tries to do them now a days. Hopefully this slam packed world event view does not find its way into 11.0, whatever that may be. Or if they do, that Blizzard had the foresight to implement feature sets around the fact that one day those events will be ghost towns.
(Now I understand that the Ghost Town methodology is truly the only way to technically progress beyond an area and to continue a storyline. However, I do not agree that said ghost town should be left the way it is for years without fixing it for the few players that want to do it instead of the many it was designed for. Especially when we’re talking about things still within the current expansion).

I don’t necessarily agree that the issue is the existence or abundance of world events, but rather how they’re designed to scale with how many players are participating. The feast, for instance, works just fine (now) even if it’s just one player performing the tasks, because the amount each task contributes scales with the amount of people doing them.
This could and should become true for the remaining world events, with something like grand hunts allowing the recruitment for centaur NPC’s around the zone that are gradually removed when new players engage, allowing that feeling of a “grand hunt” to remain. The keep assault one scales with gear, so it’s not so easy to deal with, but a similar solution could probably apply. I think the bigger mistake still is that these world events didn’t carry on in some relevant manner in 10.1, with, as suggested, grand hunts taking place in the cavern, for instance, or the assault swapping to another djaradin hold also underground.
Ultimately these world events are a good thing to have, because they do promote some degree of cooperation in an uninstanced environment, and seeing so many people gather at these places in the first season was always a great (if, uh, maybe a bit too laggy) experience. If anything, they can only learn more from them to keep improving and to make new ones. Hopefully the Zaralek caverns world events aren’t it.

Some of the Grand Hunt Encounters are bugged and the scaling on some of the boss types is way too much.
Melkhop Grand Hunt boss in Thaldraszus is bugged 95% of the time and will not spawn due to the objective needed to spawn it being unreachable.
The Magmaworm boss that spawns in Eastern Waking Shores Grand Hunts is over tuned. It hits very hard against sub 70’s.
