The Ghosts of Karesh new patch

The Shadowguard aren’t working for Xal’atath, but they want to revive Dimenisus? Is Xal’atath not working for him?

Who knows, I assume she is working for the Void Lords but I guess not all void lords.

No Haranir for the 11.2? Disappointing

Even more forced shadowlands characters.

With the end boss for the raid being Dimenisus, I’m curious if we actually kill him or if we’re forced to untether him from reality and send him back to the void again.

Or this is a case of one group of henchmen trying to impress their boss at the expense of another.

Brokers are back yay for that. But apart from that I am disappointed. I wanted rootlands and Haranir :frowning:

In this patch, the story progression is the campaign, raid, and then the Eco-Dome dungeon. It’s a different order than normal and has a surprise at the end

Well this is certainly a weird way to do this. So the dungeon is the end of the story as oppose to the raid.

This seems like a strange final patch choice for what the expansion is about (underground)
It’s called the war within and the final patch is literally a war in another planet?

I had hoped we actually go WITHIN and meet the world soul for ourselves. Seems Metzen scrapped the layout from Danuser.

I know TWW is supposed to be the introductory stuff that leads to the rest of the saga, but it all feels so disjointed.

All this ethereal stuff is amazing, don’t get me wrong. I’m pumped to see Dimensius in raid.

But there was so much stuff introduced in TWW that I’m not sure how it’ll pan out in the rest of the saga…

  • Beledar. Why was Xal siphoning it? What is it, other than what we were told by Archaedas?
  • The Undersea. Clearly something ain’t right down there.
  • Haranir? Seemingly super important and then suddenly they go away.
  • “The War Within” — seems kinda odd we end this expansion somewhere out in space?

There’s been a lot of mysteries on Azeroth given to us without many answers.

My guess?

Xal’atath wants Dimensius revived and defeated so she can consume his essence and become a Void Lord herself.

Also… interesting that the Brokers are just… bringing their entire city to the material plane. So much for, “Shadowlands races can’t leave the Shadowlands except under very niche circumstances.” They’ve been able to move entire cities to and fro all along.

Honestly, the Shadowlands races were pretty great, so I don’t mind seeing the Brokers or Venthyr again. It was just the expansion’s story that was awful.

It came out a little while ago that the entire World Soul saga, or at least the story of it, was supposed to be told in just The War Within. When Metzen came back though he told the team that it would take more time and content to tell that story properly and so they expanded things out.

Which leaves TTW in an awkward place. The launch content still seems to have been made with that original plan in mind. But the patches have been just a bunch of “stuff” made to fill space that would have been used for locations and plot points that have been changed or moved to Midnight and The Last Titan. Siren Isle, Undermine, the Arathi Highlands etc… Its just a list of what they could put together on short notice.

Well presumably the Brokers are not native to the Shadowlands so I am guessing that is why they can freely move between the two.

They’re also from Ka’resh actually. According to the new lore walking event about them

The new lorewalking questline says that the Brokers were originally from K’aresh too.

Call me crazy, but weren’t the Brokers essentially dead Ethereals/Natives of K’aresh? I haven’t played the lorewalking stuff yet. Waiting for some time off to properly get into it.

That is lame really. They should have sticked to the original plan of them being explorers of the things the First Ones created.

I don’t think anything like that was ever said, but it set up in Grimoire of the Shadowlands that the Brokers were rumored to have originally been a different race entirely, and now in the new Lorewalking questline, we have Ve’nari and Locus-Walker interacting, Locus-Walker saying he hasn’t seen Ve’nari since the fall of “our world,” and then Cho basically saying “So they both hail from K’aresh? Perhaps they were once one people.”
