So given the stingy (and frankly terrible) rate of rep acquisition for Archivists’ Codex and the 12K cap on Catalogue Research, you can land in a situation where you’ve bought everything at your current rep tier (3 for me) and also be capped on the currency.
Since you can’t get the rep without also getting the catalogue research currency by handing in the items to the vendor, this means that you can’t get the rep unless you waste a bunch of catalogue research on buying and manually DELETING repair kits.
More evidence of how little thought goes into these busy work grinds. Couldn’t just copy/paste any other regular rep grind I guess. Small indie company strikes again.

So you have 220 in every slot?
Arbitrary caps on currencies suck.
Infused Ruby is my most hated one. Can only hold 100 and very little to spend them on most of the time unless you are Venthyr.
Anima Cap needs to go too.
If it’s just a currency in the currency tab, it should be uncapped.

if you are trying to burn the currency, just buy random armerments and upgrade them to burn the currency
That said, i do think the rep gain for them is really really weird when you compare it to others. One thing i dont get, and mind you, im not complaining. You can get to T4, far eiser then you can get to honored with deaths advance. Why this matters is, deaths advance offers the 200 ilvl crafters mark, and t4 gives you the 230 crafters mark, so its just…weird.

The cap is there to force you to spend the research early so once you hit Rank 5 or 6, you can’t buy the conduit upgrades or sockets all at once.

I’m surprised people bother with that place.
But yeah the cap seems silly.
But if you have what you need then you can calm down from mindlessly grinding korthia or burn the currency as stated.

I hate this socket system so much because man, its not even worth doing it, like, the amount of currency you need to spend on a socket on an item you are just going to replace relativly soon is so pointless.

why…why wouldnt people do it? its gear taht you can get leveled up to 233 by working at your own pace and give you a reliable gearing path.

But there is nothing to spend it on. That’s the problem.
Exactly. I’m not defending the system, just stating the obvious. Almost every decision Blizzard has made in the past few years regarding systems is to make you play longer, even though much simpler solutions exist.

Rewards sure, if you feel like that is something you want, as a zone though… there doesn’t seem to have anything ‘fun’ in it to justify staying there over and over to cap X currency or what have you.
I mean, the end goal being able to use it to suplement gear that is not dropping for you in raids and dungeons is a great reason to do it.
Getting to T4 at least so you can make 230 crafted gear and have crafting be more useful then it has been since legion is a good reason.

My issue isn’t with the catch up.
I don’t need a bigger carrot to change my mind on crap content.
Low-tier content is still low tier. That’s my gripe.
I get that, but in regards to “Why would people bother doing it.” The answer is very simple, it offers a way to get pretty damn good gear as a solo player and you can actually see your progress being made.
Oh no, raid is not dropping the item you need, thats ok, you can supplement it with this system which will require you to grind sure, but at least you will be able to have a reliable way to get a supplemental item.

Definitely does suck.
This is precisely the problem. They could do a bunch of stuff to fix this:
- put the rift keys on lower tier
- put gear upgrade research at a lower tier
- have a 1:1 ratio of rep and catalogue research
- let you buy rep with catalogue research
- give more rep from dailies
In the end it’s just a lack of thinking everything through and testing from Blizz.

Yes that I always got, you saw what I meant so
Have to wait until next week to see if the cap raises every week and this is just an over achiever fairness tax.
If it’s still 12k and you need to get 50-70k before you can spend it on anything useful…
Then that’s either a massive oversight, failure of basic math or one of the worst and unnecessarily blatant schemes to keep people from building up too much currency for progression.
Right there in your face, you’re working off the clock and wont get paid.

Yup, they are pretty lacking in foresight with their open world stuff.
Feel like they are better off letting this group just design raids and dungeons and get a new group experienced in open world design and such to do that bit.

Yeah if it wasn’t for the raid, I wouldn’t not have even resubbed.
The open world “content” is severely lacking, which is pretty sad. I don’t know how some people play this game with the open world stuff as their main activity.
