The game was going so well (A small Friday maintenance lounge)

You login for the week. Queue up. And then DC’ed. Then realized it’s maintenance. In the middle of a Friday.

It’s my fault for not realizing that was going to happen, but still annoying nonetheless.

Please remind me - Why are we still playing this game after all these years?

Edit: And on the topic of mid-season meta and archetype shifts, to add an actual topic for discussion: PvP’ers are NOT second class citizens. We deserve just as much designing, balancing and tuning attention as the PvE crowd since we pay the same sub fee

An odd thing to complain about. Even for here

Since when is venting about and criticizing a game that puts everything under the sun between you and playing an issue?

I should have probably lead with the topic of mid-season armortype value changes, but whatever. A good upcoming weekend to all  here’s to less obstacles between the player and the queue

I mean, who are we players to complain, we don’t have to deal with designing and balancing, but there surely has to be a way to bring a spec’s representation back without having it dominate for weeks or months at a time? :dracthyr_a1:

The issue is clearly that things are tuned for the current tier’s PvE counters first. We need more robust PvP-specific filters, testing and feedback loops. This is what this forum has always been about, we’ve been shouting for years and yet, little has changed in that regard.

As for the PvP changes we did receive, they seem a bit disconnected IMO. I’m looking forward, with the hope that I’ll be able to play full games this weekend, to see if things feel any different to last week.

So far from the match I did partially get to play – fears did not break at all. On one hand, the modern game is very “tactile” and active, but on the other you’re sent fleeing out of it for a quarter of the match :dracthyr_crylaugh:
Idk if I am hallucinating, but some of these CC’s used to share DRs in the past. Some changes just make you wonder if those making them play the game at all.

They have a heads up about the maintenance the server was down for like 5 minutes man take a shower

Oh yeah I basically got a rematch with most of the players from before the restart, and won that as well

It’s no biggie, but I wish we would’ve gotten to finish that final round before the reset. It happens.

Regardless, I think it’s safe to say after all these years (and for the size of the game and the company (though that is now debatable), there’s quite a bit of downtime and other factors between the player and their desired activities and nobody wants to play a queue simulator.

There’s a 15 minute warning and I believe a 2m warning and then warnings every 5 seconds before shutdown. You’re complaining about something entirely on you

Specificly what do you want changed? What do you want the change to be?

I never denied that it was my fault (I even edited my post to make that clear earlier). That does not make the fact we get multiple disruptions per week that do not fix, and sometimes even add to the issues less annoying in general.

There are recent posts by better and more engaged players than me detailing what the reasons for the low participation and long queues are. It’s just boggling that the recent batches of changes did not fix or change anything meaningfully…

Ok, wow is your car, I’m your mechanic. What are your concerns? I hear you on the Armor buff/nerf. Overall it is a minimally impactful change, it does alter balance and altering spec balance like this with no ptr testing mid season is extra wierd.

They nerfed everything under the sun: Crit modifiers, armor, reduced CC… and although the reduction in borrowed power was good, the mobility/utility imbalances and fast pace of damage overall became more glaring this xpak IMO. When a class gets a damage buff, it steamrolls the archetypes it counters in mere seconds because any class can be anywhere & whenever it wants.

My wishlist: Nerf micro-CCs, pets/NPCs (too many, too strong), balance class cooldowns and mobility bit better, maybe we need a bit more damage reduction out there, more freedom for healers… But we need CC to be relevant so PvP doesn’t just feel like PvE.

If I had specific solutions, I wouldn’t be here but rather sending emails to the Dev department with “change X ability by Y%”. We need more PvP-specific balancing modifiers, more incentives and places for testing, feedback and communication around PvP balancing. So far we are just an afterthought from PvE tunings.

How they ignore pvp, ignore the open botting, the open RMT… They get what they deserve, Microsoft is just getting started, tearing the rotten, corrupt company down and rebuilding it.

I get Martin Luther King day off from work and FF14 decided it’d be a great day to have a 24 hour maintenance. Be grateful WoW doesn’t do that

Wow… that’s actually a very good point. I miss XIV btw… can’t wait for Dawntrail

Friday maintenance??? Maybe they needed more time because of the lay offs, not enough Devs to fix the game.

I know what they are NOT fixing, not doing a dang thing about the rampant Bots, and shady activities in wow.

Now days when I see maintenance I think hmmm, what FUN are they taking out of the game today? WHAT, DKs have a fun Abomination pet, better take that away. Whole dang game has become anti FUN… No wander new gamers look at wow and think this sucks and quit lol. If not for the loyal aging fan base this game would have been on a steam 5 dollar discount bundle long ago lol.
