The game is too complex

As the years go by the game is getting too complex in classes, the world, the development. People can easily tell. It getting harder to get into for new players. Harder to figure stuff out without addons. Classes have multiple modifiers on spells and passives. What was blizz thinking adding hero talents on top talents and specs that haven’t gotten down first? i understand adding fantasy.

They shouldv’e double down on the talents and made each spec better. They said they are thinking of adding an new class in midnight or later. Honestly do not. We don’t need another aug or something to mess up an already full pool. Clean the up the pool first.

This post has a lot of unfocused that needs unpacking.

It’s really not

How not? Look FF14 most jobs are simple and have an clear goal.

It really is, the whole game is messy.

The game has been too complex for a really long time now, most of this isn’t really actual complexity or depth but more so just messy and confusing game design.

Classes are definitely a bit too hard for new players, the structure of the quests is a disaster, and the progression systems have gotten way too convoluted

I’d actually agree that it is a bit on the complex side, but there is a major question that arises from that.

Should the 20 year old game be designed as if people have been playing it for 20 years or 20 weeks?

WoW is complex? Since when? :flushed:

The crafting system is a mess as well, as is gathering. 3 different grades of mats, and 5 grades of crafted items… and knowledge points are thinly veiled time gating.

I think people complained a lot and said stuff like they missed talent trees from Classic. Shadowlands talents were pretty amazing, imo. That was about as great as the game has ever been in terms of decent separation of regular, pvp and borrowed talents and very clear, intuitive choices.

However, I would say that the need for addons seems to be less in TWW than in previous expansions, and maybe that will continue in their raid and M+ design decisions, but I guess we’ll see.

They have enough people working on the game that they can do both in parallel. It isn’t a dichotomous endeavor either way, but they also seem to have some systems in place for how and what they are adding to the game that they want to stick to.

Like, they will always add/change talents around with new expansions as well as levels. At least with the Hero Powers, that system can be removed/tweaked/redesigned or just dropped altogether.

Guess we’ll find out next expac.

I think that while I agree there are a lot of things that are pretty messy, like having trainers that train just 1 thing for a profession, or nothing for a class, etc. and a ton of other things that are a consequence of continuously building on top of a live game, nobody has done a better job so far, and it’s actually quite impressive how cohesive things are given that.

Could it be better? Of course. It’s constantly getting better. And sure, it could be even better than that, though I’d be skeptical that some complaint post with zero objective data, zero research, zero intent to show anything productive or of value would be a good place to look for a guiding light.

Its not complex, it’s just a mess of garbage game design.

I’m not sure I would have played TWW if they didn’t do hero talents to be fair, I like some bit more spices and dks hero talents are pretty good.

While I do agree that some major pruning is needed. In term of procs/buffs/debuffs they should remove a lot of bloat. You shouldn’t need weakauras to track them the game UI should make this obvious and if it can’t then maybe that proc/buff/debuff shouldn’t exist.

I still have 3 full bar of buffs often as a blood dk even when I hide unnecessary buffs.

I think there is an argument with stats, rotations, and bosses that effectively require WA.

I don’t think talents honestly matter since its just copy pasting meta builds

Ture but they already said hero talents ARE staying to The last Titan.

you play a paladin, no complexity at all

DKs got it pretty good though, most hero talents are just passive bloat for no real reason

I’de also add the buff/debuff maintenance is the worst thing about class design right now. Especially the one that are just “do more damage” are so terrible for the game

That’s probably a huge reason why it’s so popular, most players probably don’t want to wack a mole weakauras.

Yea hero talents are pretty rng in term of being good or not, I get that.
I probably wouldn’t have main a monk simply looking hero talents this expansion.

Okay, means nothing.

Like i said inderstand adding fantasy but the game already has huge passives and debuffs. Its time for something besides adds X to A,B,C,D. its Really not needed.
