If we’re going to save Azeroth, we might as well look good doing it.
This is what normal people like. They like to express their individuality by customizing the appearance of their characters. Only weirdos want to look like clowns, or like they were dressed by their mommy, who is color blind and buys only at garage sales.
Indeed, looking good makes you feel good, and that’s a direct dps increase.
Cataclysm.
I think ops point is that updates seem increasingly geared towards cosmetic things in game rather than actually expanding gameplay and is confused as to why the pendelum has swung so far this way.
To be fair to all parties here, Blizzard included. It seems like 10.0.5 was originally intended to be in the game at DF launch. It needed more time in the oven.
10.0.7 is the usual half patch with adding stuff to bridge the gap to season 2.
There are throwbacks to pre-transmog who are never have used transmog. One of them is our game director, whose grasp of how and why the playerbase plays sometimes appears tenuous.
Gear and legendaries come and go. Transmog. Transmog is forever. Transmog is the true endgame.
Transmog is forever. Now can we have the Vile Fumigator’s Mask made cosmetic?
Sl was like this as well, opened with a heckton of cosmetics, a customization expansion for characters, covs had oodles of cosmetics to earn, and pretty much everything open world was almost entirely cosmetic focused.
Without Transmog would wow still be a thing? A game full of mismatched clowns with Night Elf Mohawks…
Next you’ll ask them to make everything cosmetic… not a bad idea.
I found covenant restrictions on cosmetics to be a good excuse not to grind those things out.
What needs to happen to the Vile Fumigator’s Mask is to break it up into 2 cosmetic components: the gas mask as a helm transmog, and the plague tanks, which would be a back. It also had a really ugly cloak as part of it until recently. I’m hopeful someday they will fix this, or create both as new items to get in that dungeon.
Obviously my mage needs this. You don’t even see the gas tanks in her armory view.
Next will be player housing so you can pretend you are playing the sims after you are done playing dress up.
I miss the mohawk grenades
I would say that it’s actually more of a collection game. I just go with one outfit per character. But I’ll collect EVERYTHING.
That sounds cool. I wanna put my favorite transmogs on mannequins like they had in the trading post trailer.
I don’t see it as so much a paradigm shift but rather an easy way to reward players for time spent in game. It’s the most common of the denominators.
Whenever someone calls it a “barbie dress up game” or a “doll dressing simulator” I wonder what happened to make y’all feel THIS insecure.
Op, you must be new to the game ,back then your toon looked like a clown with missed matched items that only you mom would think is cute. Trust me it’s an improvement.thank you Blizzard !
Haven’t you been paying attention to the fourms?! lol That’s pretty much all everyone has whined about for the last … forever.
