The game code needs a reboot

This game has gotten so buggy and slow. Blizzard has tried adding so many features as a patchwork job that the game just feels and runs like a train on square wheels.

I think it’s time for a WOW 2.0 or some major restart on the code.

When do you think it’s going to happen? Could the game survive the downtime?

It cant even survive a long Tuesday!

I don’t care when it happens - dropping to 5 fps to run raid is unplayable now.

Only way I see it happening is if they find a way to link account progress between the old and new engine.

People do get rather irate, don’t they?

I think the root issue here might not be the game.

Yea I’ve been noticing framerate issues, I’ve had to turn down my settings.

When a dragon race gets laggy you know you’re in trouble.

it has its days…but I think the bliz devs need an award for taking a 20 year old engine and performing the miracles they have with it for so long, honestly.

Well, I’m pretty sure it’s not the mouse button. I often use the F key, and even that is unreliable. It’ll open the window, but no lootz.

oh yeah…my FPS were down in the low 20s in areas I am easily burning upwards of 100 most of the time.
Seems to come and go so I dont know if its the game or my PC…though this is a newer rig and way more than the game requires.

i said that about poe at some point but it still happened. never know lol

if everquest3 ends up good it’ll force them to do something big… but im not holding my breath heh

They’re not making a new game from scratch and there’s no reason to rebuild it. They just need a QA team.

This will literally never happen when the game continues to thrive the way it does.

That would be an atrocious business decision.

Serious question, what’s your computer setup like? How large of a raid was it?

I have said this many times. Financially it does not make any sense for Blizzard to create a WoW 2. They would only be creating competition for their own game. That is due to there being no legitimate competition for WoW in the MMORPG gaming space. There is Ashes of Creation, which is still in pretty early alpha. The Riot MMO was taken back to the drawing board, so that could be another 4-5 years. All the other upcoming MMO’s and current MMOs, arent going to compete with WoW.

So all a WoW 2 would do, is dilute the players between two games. There is way too much of a sunken cost in WoW for players to just jump ship to a WoW 2, unless it is truly a revolutionary game.

You can see the parallels with Everquest. EQ, was the big MMO for a long time. Then when WoW was announced they pushed forward hard on EQ2. They then released EQ2 to compete with WoW. What happened was that most people left to try out WoW. EQ2 wasnt similar enough to EQ to be its successor, but it wasnt different enough to compete with the next generation of MMO which was WoW. So all that it did was divide the EQ players between those two games. The people who moved on to WoW, were truly playing a new, next generation MMO. In the end, EQ2 just ended up being another factor which hastened the decline of EQ. And even after a couple years the original Everquest had a healthier population and community than EQ2 did. And to this day still releases expansions every 1 to 2 years.

Back to the original, WoW is in a very healthy state. Between SoD, Classic realms, Classic Hardcore, Retail, it has amazing player retention. And without any real competition, there is no reason to make a game to compete with itself.

What they are going to do is keep WoW going, while managing the costs of development as best they can.

What will happen is that eventually a true next generation MMORPG will come out and it will be competition for WoW. It will be good enough to draw players away. At that time will be the time for Blizzard to create a WoW 2. Not to compete with itself, but compete with the true next generation of MMO. And Blizzard will do what they did with WoW. Look at the best MMO’s on the marked. Take all of the elements that those MMO’s do good, and simply do them better. Till then. No reason to compete with yourself.

for me it drops sub 100 in some fights/situations and “feels” like 5 fps because im used to 144 with gsync and gsync starts to act weird under 100. probably wouldnt even notice if i was still on an easy 60hz monitor heh

at least it sticks to the 144 in dungeons/m+

this has been widely documented by the community. The game is in a frightful state.
