The funnest WoW has been in years, why?

I’ve recently read more and more posts stating how fun DF is and how it’s the best expansion for 10+ years. I really can’t see what’s fun about it.

What makes DF stand out from the previous few expansions?

What features or game changes would you like to see on future DF patches ??

It’s exactly the same but we can fly faster now, so I guess that makes it the best? Lol

So far I’ve been loving gearing up without even having to touch mythic loot. iLevel 382 from open world. But as this starts to become a vast difference I will likely stop enjoying the game so much.

It’s new, give it a few months.

That’s always true though.

Large open world with content and things to do. Interesting gathering and crafting professions. Renown has so far been interesting and with heroic dungeon gear I am doing fine without the need to grind mythics if I do not want to.

Azure span also has some very grizzly hills like areas and music. Love it!

DF is not good because it has amazing content.

It’s good because it has no awful content.

It’s simple. That’s why… it respects my time, there are many optional things I could get into if I wanted, I feel like I could make an alt and I wouldn’t be a million gold and years behind, the entire expansion feels adventurous and light hearted. It’s colorful, it’s taking us back to fun dungeons for mythic, the npcs we work with are interesting, the story is easier to follow and makes sense, it doesn’t feel overly cosmic. Dragonriding is super fun, all the zones are connected, we have a auction house at our new city.

It was a honeymoon phase mixed with hopium. Now it’s over.

Wait a month or two when the content gets stale. WoD also had great content and a good start. But if there’s nothing to do but AFK in Valdraken after grinding reps for two years come back and tell me DF was great then.

All the endgame systems are optional with respect to player power. In a sense, you can do whatever you want and make progress towards that system, but it won’t have a significant impact on your player power. Because of this, it’s more like “what do I want to do today?” instead of “what do I need to do today?”

Even if the answer is “nah, I don’t feel like playing today” you aren’t punished for taking breaks. Sweaty players farming rare elites for gear aside, your player power comes from the traditional content of raids, mythic+, and PVP…but now it also includes crafting – which is incredibly friendly to solo players because it means there is going to be a lot of powerful gear in the marketplace, which bodes well for alts too. The market isnt saturated yet, but it will happen quite fast.

I don’t know… I’m gonna like anything that talks about soup enough

The cool kids are all gone and team milton is being allowed to shine.

I don’t know, 10.1 is adding a system that looks like it will be amazing and will give everyone something to do. It will probably be out around the end of January (guessing).

Yeah it’s starting to die down it seems.

I think it has been a combination of copium, parroting others, and confirmation bias. People would scapegoat systems for their boredom when they were just bored. DF launches and they are having fun and they incorrectly attribute their fun to the lack of systems and whatnot instead of the expansion merely being brand new. So they think/thought their engagement will persist when it won’t.

Personally I’m really enjoying the focus on characters. Learning about the past through the stories of the old dwarf/dragon and the centaur made the expansion feel more like a journey of discovery.

I’m also enjoying how excited the expedition members are about everything, it’s all such a big adventure to them, and that’s actually kind of infectious? Compared to the heaviness of leaping into the maw at the start of SL, it’s a great breath of fresh air.

I’m very bad at dragonriding, like I’m 20s off even getting silver in the dragon racing WQs, but I’m really enjoying it as well - the dragon riding soccer is wonderful fun!

It’s not perfect of course - my main gripe is the reps that can be grinded up by killing mobs. Whoever thought it was a good idea to allow an unlimited mob grind, I don’t know, but at least nobody is forced to do it - you can get rep through WQs and weeklies without ever really affecting your player power at all.

All in all this is the best that WoW has ever been. Best expansion of all time for me.

I don’t think it respects time at all. All the open world events are on timers and have long CDs. I came online hoping to do an event and fount it wasn’t going to be up for two hours. That is not respecting time.

WoD was controversial from the get go with the entire flight removal drama, some of the worst login timers ever seen in an expansion launch, Karabor/Bladespire Citadel being cut despite the art assets all there, and having some raids and entire zones that were promised not even show up. A lot of the promises they made with Garrisons didn’t deliver as well. Then they basically abandoned the expansion.

Honestly it’s easier to just watch a vid:
