The forum should show who flagged a post or thread. It’s no secret that inappropriate mass flagging happens when someone disagrees with something someone else said, which is 100% not what the flagging system is meant to be used for. If we were held to a little bit of personal accountability for flagging posts and threads then there would be a large decrease in false flagging since we would lose our anonymity.
Hi Ralph, I mean Clark, I mean Frostera, I mean yeah.
Nah, lol. Keep it flagged.
If enough people heart it it’ll be unflagged.
Let the streets speak for themselves.
More likely it would result in more false flagging as people tried to get revenge for being flagged, correctly or incorrectly.
That’s not how it works. Sounds nice and all though.
Flag is a mistake, dislike show how much people hate you xD
I’ve had posts unflagged before that way.
Not on this forum you haven’t. A moderator reviews the flagged post and either deletes it and possibly actions the posting account or they restore the post.
So all of the folks that have flagged me walked back their flags after it was liked a bunch?
Cool.
Pretty much this. It would result in a giant mess where people would start flagging to get even and then back and forth forever.
That’s not how it works either.
I want to know the explanation behind the flags being removed on my posts, lol.
Since you seem to know so much about this here forum,
and yet you don’t see how your idea could backfire in any way.
I already told you.
I don’t think that will lead to somewhere good for knowing who flagged your thread.
So mods are sticking up for me? Awesome
Yes. If your thread or post didn’t break any CoC rules then they restore your post and remove the flags.
Blizz can see who flags things and DOES take action against people who abuse the system. Allowing forum users to see who does it would just lead to more problems so it should remain anonymous.
I wouldn’t object to that. I much prefer being straightforward.
As far as I know, only moderators have the power to review and restore flagged posts as they deem appropriate, so yes. Hearts don’t do anything besides portray how many people agree with your sentiments in your post.
That being said, no the forums should not show who flagged a post. It serves no purpose besides encouraging vindictiveness, and if a post was indeed falsely flagged, then the mods will do their job.
Kind of just promotes false flagging and upvoting. I think the best solution is the do away with the hearts and the likes and the flags. It’s just a means for people to pat each other on the back or flag wrong-think.
