The forum ignore player feature

AKA anyone who has a different opinion than you.

How is it “weak”? It serves a valuable purpose, to put trolls out of the picture. If you consider typing in a name “extra work”, I don’t know what to say.

na still sounds weak. Brave cool story though.

Funny that this thread’s very first reply is a hidden reply for me

Sorry, Coyote, no it wasn’t.

It’s just a mute really. All it does is collapse the messages.

The forums still need a proper ignore IMO.

Ignore/silence/mute culture is toxic. Change my mind.

In what way do you consider the culture toxic?

It takes a lot for me to outright mute or ignore someone. I usually do this when I have come to the conclusion over the series of multiple posts that they really don’t have anything to offer as far as I’m concerned. So if I find that they are in that instance, why bother seeing anything they have written?

It’s kind of like PVP. I don’t do PVP so why am I going to bother partaking in anything that has to do with it?

It usualy just makes things worse, look at current events as an example. “Ignoring something” doesn’t solve anything, it just enrages people.

It enrages those who are seeking attention, and suddenly do not have an audience. The only ones who seem to have an issue with this feature are those who would be losing said audience.

that’s not really true at all, it’s usually people that are trying to point something out, that other person doesn’t like the point, then they get them muted/silenced because they do not like what is being said or how it’s presented.

I think that it all comes down to situational examples as if it creates a toxic or unhealthy environment.

Just using myself as an example.

I ignore the AH
I ignore PVP
I ignore guild invites
I ignore certain topics
I ignore certain people
I ignore certain types of RPing

I don’t think in my case any of the following has created a toxic or unhealthy environment. I don’t even think the people that I ignore know that I ignore them lol

I doubt very much that the majority of cases are because the user “do not like what is being said or how it’s presented”. There are some chronic trolls on this forum who exist SOLELY to push buttons for reactions.

there was even a forum topic talking about how there was no ignore…

I still don’t know all of these forum functions but if the muting and ignoring just creates small windows. I agree with the people that say there should be permanent times as well.

Maybe they are there and I just haven’t seen them yet.

It would be nice if it ignored entire accounts, so sock puppets could be included in the ignore.

That would be nice too

I need a safe space!
