The folder _retail_WTF is created everytime WoW is started

There appears to be a bug in the client that is creating a folder “_retail_WTF” every time the client is started. This is before entering the actual game, and disabling all addons does not prevent this. I suspect there is some bug in the client causing this folder to be created.

It’s created in the base “World of Warcraft” folder next to the folders for retail, classic, and "classic_era

It’s supposed to.

I’m not talking about “C:\World of Warcraft\_retail_\WTF”, it’s creating an additional folder since 10.0.7 as "C:\World of Warcraft\_retail_WTF\

This folder was not being created prior to 10.0.7 and has nothing in it. It appears to be a bug to me.

My apologies.

Good eye.

It appears to be empty, but it also seems to have no purpose.

Probably an error concatenating the path string (forgetting a delimiter) when checking for and creating required directories.

Well, I do dev on a few Addons, so my first concern it was a bug I may have introduced. But I have validated it’s not at this point.

It still happens to me, and I think it was after installing PTR clients it started. Because they also had that type of extra folder inside them.

I believe PTR versions are installed into _ptr_ folder, so something to do with PTR causing a problem with the _retail_ folder seems odd. I haven’t tested that, and I haven’t installed PTR versions in a while.

Just to kick in my two cents, I have never installed a PTR nor any other version of WoW except regular retail and classic. I, too, have the empty “retail_WTF” folder.
