With Dalaran’s destruction, the Focusing Iris that was used to give Chromatus life and empowered the mana bomb that destroyed Theramore is MIA.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Xal’atath stole it or absorbed it into the Dark Heart, but I do wonder if we could see it play. Say perhaps could Chromatus be given life once more or some other horror with it?

Oh god, you guys are teasing me so much at this point with Sire D and now Chromatus posts… I obviously LOVE if something happened related to them in-game, but I will spare you my paragraphs of geek out, ideas or speculations about this… I think at this point I think I be repeating myself honestly if taking into account my post on other alts lol :laughing:

I give it a 50/50 between “They’re not really interested in using this particular macguffin again, so they’ll never mention it” and “It’ll come up at some point in the future when they need a generic ‘strong magic thing’ for the plot.”

Why exactly was it being stored in Dalaran? You would think once the Blue Dragons aspects got their mojo back they would take back some of the burden of keeping magical items in check.

Ooh, that would have been a fun world quest, if some of the ‘fetch things from the ruins of Dalaran’ quests were given by blue dragons we met in DF looking to lock them away. Possibly with a ‘Stay a while and listen’ option of a dragon talking with a Dalarani mage about all the recent changes leading to this.

Perhaps they did, we just have no way knowing as nothing was said.

All we know that was the Focusing Iris was last known to be Dalaran. I find it likely that it was stolen or potentially absorbed into the Dark Heart. Though I can easily see it as stolen and being used to revive Chromatus.

I’ll try my best to sum it up… so it’s not hard on the eyes to read:

  • We know that the Darkheart was crack open and just as the Demon Soul its extremely fragile.
    • Alleria notice this when she first punch it and for a split second you can see suttle drawn cracks by that hit. (well done by the cinematic team btw)
    • This further confirms that the Void as most if not all Cosmic Forces can cannibalize or destroy themselves (unlike other fantasy setting were you literally can’t use the same power or you be healing or feeding the Entity of same elementar or energy) as seen how Xal doges Alleria Void arrows yet didn’t flinch at Khadgar Arcane Blast.

Ok taking this into account a few theories and speculation did came up to me:

  • Xal will have to urgently turn to the nearest closest power source strong enough to not only fix the Darkheart but also strengthen it so it can be so easily destroyed.
  • This could lead to Titan Order Arcane magics… If you want to fix something there is not better magic since it literally “orders” anything it touches.
  • Conveniently we have quite a few Extremely Powerful scattered around and we (the players and NPCs) are if anything, legendary when leaving important relics ready for the picking or just laying around, like Azshara literally mocking and pointed at us in BfA with how we “carelessly” left the Tide Stone unguarded. lol
  • We got the Focusing Iris, Jaina with their borrowed Titan buffs… ofcourse and most importantly Chromatus that has a VERY unique and rare trait apparently as an unintended consequence of its creation from all Aspects, its body is indestructible.

Ok this can lead to some interesting main quest or side quest depending of what the Story Dev Team already have envision in Midnight or maybe started in TWW, please bare with me, as I try to condense or sum up my scribbles and MANY notes I gather with this subject alone for my own personal RPG games for my in WoW PCs lol:

  • Xal will definitely be gathering this artifact and will lead confronting Jaina and whatever surprise or reveals the devs have for us with that, to stabilise the Darkheart. :smirk:
  • However I think this won’t be enough and there is no time for her to invest her power to this endeavor as the Champions are hot on her trail and unlike so many villains SHE KNOWS how persistent we can be, specially the Priest that wielded her power she know the potential danger he/she as well as other Dark Classes including Dark Ranger Hero spec character poses to her plans. It be great to get some flavor text or dialog on it or even Class specific side quest for immersion, maybe note the different with Locks and SP using the Void among other Classes that can use Shadow Base powers and a contrasts with other Classes source of Power or Strength…IMO
My Personal RPG thought Process as I seen over the course of WoW and other Fantasy/Sci-fi games when it comes to this specific point

My take on this is that Dark Classes just see her as a power source there is nothing that she can use to tempt them that they already have not claim with their own greedy corrupted hands… While normal to Holier Classes had yet to taste that “Darkness” and have to constantly stay vigilant limiting their effectiveness to end her threat IMO since she can use innocent lives and other things to stir them away unlike Warlocks, DK, DH, SP and DR, again IMO

  • Continuing this she will turn like the OP said to Chromatus… she can and could put the Darkheart in Chromatus obviously this could corrupt or change him/they/it becoming a “unruly pet” of Xal, that she uses to control the Twilight Dragonflight or what’s left of it… where she turns to Iridikron to be its handler as he fight his losing war with the new Empowered Azeroth Aspects, specially his sister who is both a Primal Incarnate and Aspect.
    • This is all part of Xal plan to make the Darkheart indestructible as it bonds with Chromatus counting that the Champions of Azeroth when defeating him will cause the Heart to absorb his essence and become infuse with his Aspectral powers and its indestructible traits making it vulnerable to kill.
    • Drakthyr playes should have a few flavored text and dialogs in these quest leading to the Dragon Isles as Xal somehow could use Chromatus to control some of the Dracthyr and start to create new brood Chromatic Dragons, accelerating their growth with the help of Xals manipulation of the Darkheart inside him… (unintended side effect Dracthyr can now have babies if they chose with the Chromatic Family, yay or nay? But a lore reason or excuse to add more CC option even a new more Bigger Draconic Built) maybe a few Night Elves could help since they are now neighbors.
      • Perfect opportunity to unlock new CC skins for Night elves and Nightborne (specially Nighborn who got nothing) of the Night Warrior cosmic look and Druids of the Flame Skin and tattoos… Maybe a new Heritage varian for Night Elves that is fiery or Fel looking for does new Dark Classes or if they add Shaman to them…
      • Why would Nightborn be involved in this? Glad you ask :smile:, it’s simple, the Horde presence primary, secondly to start the text talks and built up to the unification of the Elven Races and thirdly they at least from my understanding have a almost racial connection or understanding of the Arcane specifically and could prove useful in understanding the workings of the Darkheart or its “truly ancient” origin whatever the Devs decided that is to be able to fight Chromatus and Iridikron new Flight.
  • Iridikron would not come out unfazed with his dealing with Xal as his sister Warned him… Xal in anticipation, knowing his zeal to protect Azeroth she will Change him using the Darkheart… this could lead to becoming the Twilight Aspect to lead the Void Flight…
Suggestion on Iridikron new Aspectral form

However cool the Art team can make him… both his majestic new Aspectral Twilight Dragon form and his humanoid form… My only suggesting if this happened is that make Iridikron new form have shifting properties from Light to Dark Reflecting Beledar. Hinting on Xal mastery using the Chromatus as a conduit to the Darkhearts power drain from Beledar and her hypnotic control over it, as she knows Iridikron would not follow her blindly.
Also please don’t forget about Vyranoth update to her new Azeroth and Primal Incarnate Aspectral unique model too! lol

  • At some point both Chromatus and Iridikron turn against Xal as they free their new Dragonflights for her control and they join as a new unify Aspects to protect Azeroth thanks to the efforts of specifically Vyranoth and the other Aspects as also the Champions…
  • However frustrated this works into Xals plans and preparation as the Darkheart is empowered with the new and old Aspects power and made unbreakable moving forward into the next expansions… this however starts to revealed Xal true nature and origin
Another speculation on my part on Xal'atath origin

I say she is more than a Darken Primal Naaru that was scattered like Xera did to her self to send us her message back in Legion, she could be the WoW version of Tiamat who if you read the Wiki text mention she was dismembered and use to create constructs and structures elements of the cosmos from Tiamat’s body, similar to what the Old Gods did, but if this was done to her by the First Ones that would open up the obscure lore bits that briefly mention an obscure 7th Cosmic Force etc, a lot of cool future main stories and side quest even after The World Saga can come of this IMO. However this would put her Above or equal to the “First Ones” were it would seem that the First Ones may not be around and could just as well suffer the same fate as Tiamat to give birth to the WoW universe… ahh what a fun rabbit hole! lol :rofl:

I have much more but honestly TWW is not even finish we know too little of anything or the new Harronir but if any of my speculation or theory is even close I’ll just add that the Harronir could become the first Evokers thanks to the Black Blood being purify by the events of Chromatus and Iridrikrons final fight.

Sorry to tire your eyes I did try to sum up all of it, but did try to warn you! Of Course this is ALL speculation, theories and just plain headcanon in my part that I gather by just playing and reading the lore in WoW as well as playing, reading on other games, stories or concepts over the years! Also really good coffee help, btw need more!! :rofl:
