The Final Redpill: Raids are boring & should be discontinued already, the majority dislikes them

Thread title says it. That’s right. Raids are an obsolete relic it has become more and more clear as time passes that it doesn’t deserve continued existence in WoW and it existing is just there for legacy’s sake.

If Blizzard removes Raids, no one will miss them. Sure you’ll have an overwhelmingly extremely loud minority shouting their lungs out over it, but numerically speaking, insignificant.

Raids are a anti-spray to newer younger generation of players & people with JOBS. Catering to these 2 is crucial for WoW’s success because they ARE the playerbase & future. Business wise, the angry mob WILL still be subbed, they WILL get over it, and they WILL be happy, they’re mazed.

Here’s what should be done with Raids:
Completely, absolutely RESTRUCTURED atop its foundational bones into something that is actually tolerable, worthwhile.

Something that can be done under 2 hours, fast rewards and most importantly, IS NOT 25 MAN or 10(ten is optional but no more than that). Can be done with 5 players. Basically, something like Destiny 2.

Not everyone is a sociopath, most people just like spending time with people they like and are comfortable with, something raidoits spectacularly fail to understand every time for some reason. You can’t force people out of their social comfort zones, that’s sociopath mindset, didn’t your mom taught you manners?

Most people dont want to join ‘guilds’ of complete strangers that most of the time have no common ground with.

‘Raids’ will only exist in name. What we associate as ‘WoW Raids’ gone, and will not be missed.

There’s a lot of statistical data to suggest that there are still some folks who enjoy doing raids. While there was certainly a discussion as to whether or not raids should be continued toward the end of Cataclysm (hence the birth of LFR), it is still a form of content and type of challenge that some folks enjoy.

I agree that it’d be nice to be able to do a “solo” or “small-group” version of raids, purely so that they’re available for story-telling purposes. But the option to challenge one-self should still be there in some form, and I don’t think an uncapped Mythic+ should be the only way to pursue “end-game” PvE in WoW.

How much do raids costs go develop? That’d likely produce an interesting answer.

I realize this is likely a troll, but you don’t speak for anyone but yourself.

Me looking at my entire raid group comprised of people with full time careers… :face_with_monocle:

What EXACTLY do you think is the future of hardcore progression content?

…Mythic+?
:face_with_monocle:

Lol. The majority of people haven’t raided since release and that has never changed. Bit of a meaningless statement.

Is there a problem?

Anyone that uses “redpill” in their topics is either a troll or just a weirdo that spends too much time on reddit and deserves no attention.

Ok

Fact: WoW is a majority PVE game and PVP is a tiny pocket activity. PVP should be removed entirely from the game because its so tiny, its a waste of resources.

Confusing the “99%” (which is a lower number than that but whatever) that don’t actively do raids with them actively disliking raids are different.

Raids contribute to the legacy content farming cycle every time they become outdated - legacy farming is a massive part of WoW. The hardest part about making and designing a raid is making the first version of it (let’s say that’s heroic) - tuning knobs to make more and less difficult versions (let’s say those are LFR, normal, and mythic) is much easier.

For Blizzard, raiding guilds generate a ton of income just on server transfers alone. Find a trial? That’s a server transfer. Fail a trial? They transfer somewhere else. Our guild trials probably 4 to 6 people over the course of a tier and have close to that either fail their trial/not continue their trial, or choose to raid elsewhere. It’s extremely normal for that to happen. That’s hundreds and hundreds of additional money per guild for Blizzard just based off general recruitment.

Raiders are also a demographic that Blizzard knows how to keep - they make raids, and raiders come. You don’t need record high raiding participation metrics for it to be a worthwhile investment. The addition to the legacy content loop, the /played of raiding guilds, the transfer fees raiding guilds are responsible for, and the ease of targeting that demographic all make it worthwhile for Blizzard to continue to do.

Not to mention, a raiding development team will not just all of a sudden be good at developing non-raid content. You’re essentially saying to fire those employees and replace them with people who do not know the game just on a gamble.

Casual content is much harder to narrow in on. They DID release a ton of casual focused content - Islands, Warfronts, Torghast, etc. It all flopped because the wants and needs of casual players varies so much.

You don’t know what most people want. You’re assuming everyone that doesn’t raid has the same opinions as you and pretending you’re a majority.

This is horrible rhetoric. Raiding guilds would not survive if they were not ran by responsible adults. Everyone in my guild is a working professional. We all have families, responsibilities, etc. These tropes are so outdated and based off of the raiding scene when we were all young and had that time - but the scene changed as we changed. The idea that you can’t raid while maintaining a normal life is incredibly silly.

You dropped this: :red_circle:

Undeserved confidence in Mythic+ aside though, the goal of content is not to appeal to the majority of players. It’s to appeal to a significant percentage of players. That could be as small as 5%, because 5% is likely thousands and thousands of players.

Again, the overwhelming majority of players don’t raid. That is not new. It is not news. It is not novel. It is not insightful. That’s a-ok. I tried raiding like … twice. Maybe thrice. Didn’t like it. Decided not to do it. Doesn’t mean it should be removed from the game.

i dislike furries(the fandom for reasons id get banned if i say why)… thank u 4 listeningz!! >w<

Raids as they exist now certainly should change. Moving the bulk of the content into “dungeons” and the bosses into something like what FF14 does for “raids” would be a good thing.

I don’t expect it’ll happen anytime soon tho. I never thought raids were a good idea when they started in EQ1 in Plane of Fear, Nagafen or Vox. Spending that many resources for a small slice of the game population seems an odd choice to me.

Hoping we’ll see “some” changes in DF… time will tell.

‘Raidoit’? Lol, ok. By the way, your opinion is not ‘truth’. Also thanks for proving my point, troll.

I guess you have never raided with friends before? Raiding is one of the few times I get all my friends together to hang out because they are all busy with their own life’s and don’t spend all their time on wow.

If blizz made more dungeon and raid content we wouldn’t let our subs lapse after we get AOTC and KSM I’d argue if the spent time on this type of content rather than balancing systems or trying to make a solo player experience in a MMO they wouldn’t see subs drop off as hard during the patch cycles

Lfr is super popular and justifies raiding by itself

The other three difficulties not so much

Raiding and new zones is the only real new content we get plus a tiny amount of later dungeons

M+ is just more of the same dungeons, nothing new about it in the slightest - definition of recycled low dev cost activity

Pvp is the same as always but is dynamic content by its very nature

Like…a guild raid? If you dont like playing with your guildies then sorry but youre in the wrong guild.

Nobody forces you to leave said zone. Stop pretending this to be the case.

Then dont? Or pick your time when choosing a guild. During all my time in this game the amount of guilds that would fall into your described category would be two. In numbers: 2. And guess what? I left them.

Destiny 2 is an entirely different game.

Is what you said. Yet the vast majority in my guild either has a job, is self-employed/independent like our GM, or a student ergo falling into the younger generation of players category. Not to mention the amount of people with families. And it has been like this in every guild i have been in thus far. Without exception.

You can still have M+ without removing raiding.

No i dont have a 30+ bnet friendlist nor would want too it’s unnatural to interact with that many people, i like spending time with few i like and quality time not jump from dude to dude as if they’re accessories. as i’ve said before, Social Comfort Zone.

Exactly, because you don’t have to put up with 20+ people or any of that. But like they say

‘LFR isnt real raids!’

EDIT: OH NO GUYS WHAAT NOW!! THE TWITTER BLUE CHECKMAR- i mean GOLDPOSTER HAS REPLIED!! ITS OVER…
